Walking the Walk; Talking the Talk…Taking Christianity Into the World
As part of the Body of Believers we are all called Lay People. Some of us seem to have gotten the impression that being a Lay Person means that we “lay down” and do nothing more than attend church on Sunday. Though honoring the Sabbath is one of the Ten Commandments, being a Christian “just on Sunday” is not what we are called to do. Whether you serve you community locally or globally, being the Hands and Feet of Jesus is when you are best able to see Christ in action and great miracles and life changing events both in you, those you serve with, and to whom you serve.
In the Old Testament, Nehemiah is not only a great example of Leadership 101 but also a calling to all Believers, regardless of age, status, stature, gender or location to step out and accomplish great things in God’s name. God is A Voice of One exhorting you to accomplish great things in God’s name. God did not call us to a life of passivity but one of boldness, where be in great confidence march forward under the power of Christ and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Several years ago, while attending Northpoint Community Church I was blessed to meet a woman who was on fire with God. The Holy Spirit softly called to her leading her to long-term overseas missions. God did not call her to visit for a week, a month, or even a year. He called her to change who she was, what she did, and where she lived. In answering God’s calling fully she sold everything she owned including her home in Buckhead, complete with a tennis court, pool, acreage and a lake view to go overseas and to live in poverty. Laying down her life, living in abundance and in freedom, Rebecca chose to go where Christ led. For the first several years Rebecca, lived in China and has since moved to Thailand where she presently serves, while fulfilling the Great Commission.
Though Rebecca does visit the U.S. to gain strength as well as financial support, her home is where God directs. Her letter is incredible, her story is legendary as Christ is right in the middle of it. I encourage you to be still after its reading, let God touch your heart and to seek what God would have you do as we all look to Take Christianity Into the World.
“Sawhatthikha” (Greetings) from half-way around the world in Thailand! Many of you have heard me tell the story of the precious girl (one of my
“daughters” God has given me) that God had me meet in the bar brothels when I first came to Bangkok almost 3 years ago. It was amazing how God built our relationship considering I could not even speak her language when I
first met her. I visited her in the bar brothel for almost a year. God
made me feel so much love for her and as my Thai language skills progressed I was able to pray with her, witness to her, love on her, and be her mother and her friend. I think you will feel very blessed to WATCH HER VIDEO. It will be 10 minutes and 55 seconds well spent. You will need to have some tissues handy. I want you all to know how MUCH God used you in her life…You all supported me financially and prayerfully to be able to come serve in Bangkok so God could direct me to this prostitute. Because of you partnering with me, God used my relationship with this girl to bring her out of the bar brothel to NightLight where she gets to go to church service every day and have Bible Studies, prayer ministry and work making jewelry in an environment of unconditional love. Because of you helping me to stay in Bangkok, this once prostitute is now saved, baptized and a praise and worship leader in our NightLight church.http://www.xpmedia.com/geSepQEH4KlT
There is a picture of a beautiful Thai girl with black hair and bangs. It is 10 minutes, 55 seconds long. “Khaw pradjao ouypon khun kha” (God bless you) Love, Rebecca
Her testimony is in Thai language, but after a few seconds an English
translation will also come on…so please be patient. Note; When she
references the word “bar” she means “bar brothel” and when she says she
“worked at a bar” she means she “worked as a prostitute”. Your time spent clicking on the link below will be time well-spent. Trust me you will
feel blessed as you see how God has transformed her life. You had a big
part in this transformation!
