Atlanta CPA on Serving the Lost the Last and the Least…Taking Christianity Into the World

Serving the Homeless of Christmas This Christmas

Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. Well, here is the word for the week. Called to Serve Mark 10;35-45. The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve. -Mark 10:45. When George W. Bush was President, he made a surprise visit to serve Thanksgiving Day dinner to soldiers deployed overseas. One reporter covering the story thought that some might save their meal as a souvenir, explaining, “It’s not often that anyone is served by the President.”

     All elected officials are public servants- in a global, symbolic way- so they are always serving. So it seems that an act of service should not have been one of the biggest news items of the day.

     Many people have a genuine desire to serve others, but for some, service is really serving. This was true when Jesus was training His disciples. They were under the impression that following Him would make them great.

     But Jesus quickly set them straight: “Those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you” -Mark 10:42-43. Jesus made it clear to them that they were in training to become servants: “Whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all” v.44.

     We can sign up for any number of good leadership training seminars, but the only good leaders are those who are first and foremost good servants.

     They truly lead who lead by love, And humbly serve the Lord;

     Their lives will bear the Spirit’s fruit And magnify His word.

A good leader is a good servant.

     Just to let everyone know Thanksgiving was a great success at the Garden. First off thanks be to God, second our new family of Sugarloaf United Methodist and how they have come aboard and adopted 7 bridges as their new family. To give you an update in the month of November, with all your help, prayers, and love, 7 bridges was allowed to feed over 7,000 meals in the streets of Atlanta and under the bridges. Wow! that is our record. Thank you so very much. We are still working on raising taxes for the garden and browns mill road. We are preparing for the Christmas concert on December 19th at 7:00. We will be having a Christmas drama with the kids, worship dancing, and of course the gardens praise team, led with yours truly Pastor Edward McKnight. Hopefully and prayerfully we will be able to raise enough money to pay the taxes with. If you want to get involved with gifts for the women, children, and men please contact me by email or my cell phone (404-644-6976). I know I’m not supposed to mention names because sometime it upsets people if I don’t mention them so please forgive me. I have to thank Kat Doyle and Saint Brandons Catholic Parish. What an awesome time we had under the bridges last Saturday. So if you have no purpose contact me, 7 bridges has a purpose for everyone. There is a lot more that needs to be done in this city, we can use all the help we can get. Not being cocky, but confident in the Lord. No matter what we trust Him with all our hearts and we won’t back down. So I love you and we thanks you for all your prayers, support, and love.

At present the ministry is looking for volunteers to help with a food drive and a media/advertising/Web Master to help promote the Good News of Jesus Christ and 7 Bridges to Recovery.
