Gwinnett CPA Helps Taxpayers Resolve Tax Issues With the IRS
When the IRS comes knocking on your door it is best to as soon as possible retain a CPA who is well versed in such matters. Undergoing and addressing an IRS audit by one’s self is akin to performing major surgery on one’s self. Having a CPA to represent you and to advocate your tax issues with the IRS is the best first step to financial success. Below is a sample letter one might use to address IRS tax documentation issues and requests for documents:
Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, Atlanta GA 39901
Enclosures: Notice Requested Information/IRS Letter dated 1-25-10 (copy enclosed)
I am writing you in a good faith attempt to come to terms over the above taxpayers’ present predicament and to address their tax issues and your initial assessment. I am willing/eager to supply you with any information that you might need in order to process the audit. I have enclosed the information that the client has forwarded for you to process the audit. Please note the taxpayer has forwarded to me the year-end tax statements and all of the information that you need to complete the audit and to close your file.
I would formally like to Appeal the Disallowances and have an Appeals Conference if necessary. In the interim I have forwarded copies of all of the tax information requested, which would validate the IRS approving the tax deductions as claimed. Since I have assumed the role as their financial advisor (they had no advisor previously), I have consulted with them, and in good faith have pulled together the information that you have requested.
I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to working with you to close their file.
Sincerely, John C. Dillard, CPA, PC, Partner in Charge
