Christian CPA on Navajo Family Missions…Taking Christianity Into the World
I have always wanted to join a Ladies Bible Study….if you would let me I would like to join you for a portion of your next meeting. If you would like we can plan here.
It still appears from our past efforts there that ladies and not the guys are going to be the ones that will grab the cross of Jesus and carry it to all the Navajo, but I believe we have to ready them for the journey. There are several thoughts that I want to explore with you including:
Having a Sunday School Class here at SUMC adopt and support them with materials, prayer and interaction.
Talk with them much before we arrive to lay out our plans to all there to whom we are seeking to lead, so that our time care maybe one of implementation and not one of orientation.
Get to them materials they will need to be purposeful and supported including Easy to Read Bibles, devotions books, a curriculum we might help them with. Initial thoughts would be for Carol to get them all signed up with the Intouch Monthly books as an additional support aid but for a kickoff I would suggest a more formal structure such as the Purpose Driven Life, that they could get together to discuss for forty weeks, while being sure that each has a copy.
The best way I have discovered for me to learn is to teach. As we have developed a great relationship with the Senior center there it appears to be a unique opportunity for the Navajo Ladies Bible study to seize for them to become learners and leaders. For the ladies in the group will gain much in both their own growth and by their sharing what they have studied to those at the Senior Center, who would welcome it so much.
Also it would be prudent for us to explore the advantages of technology to see how we might further support them by “skyping” them and making available to them the SUMC messages on-line, especially those we feel might be most pertinent.
I would suggest that she share well in advance of our arrival our plans, hopes and dreams to support and guide them as they serve the Navajo Seniors by their own personal growth, learning and development. I would even suggest that you help them in leading a Bible Study while you are there on Thursday and Friday, for it is in the doing that we are most apt to learn and become comfortable.

This year God has blessed us with ninety souls to take along with us and over three hundred on the reservation who need us now today, more than ever. There is no greater group that has ever been assembled or poised to take Jesus to the Lost the Last and the Least than you are. I have watched each of you personally and I have been amazed by your heart and your zeal. I call on the power of an Almighty God to hear our prayers, to bless our plans and to embrace our plans as we seek to Taking Christianity Into the World. I believe your Destiny on this trip is to help them discover theirs.
1 John 5:14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
You going on this trip is not an accident, nor happenstance but was predestined because of your great love and His call on your life. I am so very proud of each of you.
Dare to Attempt Something so Great for the Kingdom of God that it is doomed to failure, lest Christ be in it!
