In the Old Testament just before the Israelites were to finally enter the Promised Land, God speaks to Moses telling him to gather together the assembly of the people.  Then God instructs Moses to speak to a rock which is just before their eyes advising that it will bring water out of the rock for the people and their livestock to drink.  Moses assembles the people together in front of the rock and then Moses strikes the rock twice with his staff.  Water gushes out and all the community and their animals drank.  Though Moses did perform a miracle, he chose on his own in contradiction to God’s plan, to strike the rock with his staff rather than speaking to it as God had commanded.  Because of Moses’ lack of faith in God’s work, choosing to seek glory for himself rather than that of God, Moses was not permitted to bring the people into the Promised Land.  Though Moses had been faithful for forty years leading the people in the desert, he failed to continue in his faith and the path, which had protected and guided him for long and so well. (Numbers 20:8-12).

Thought for the Day….Are you waiting on and listening to God or are you striking the rock and marching ahead in your flesh. Seek God in all that you do and He will guide and mark your steps.
