“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). God realizes our path here on earth will be hard as he walked it himself in the form of man as Jesus Christ. Knowing the trials and prosecutions we will face, God promises he will never leave our side or forsake us committing to be there alongside and supporting us giving us the ability to persevere during the heat of adversity standing alone against the waves of tribulations which seemingly reign throughout our lives. Jesus himself mourned over the loss of his dear friend Lazarus, shedding tears of the pain of his deceased friend (John 11:1-44). Though Jesus knew he would soon resurrect Lazarus from death, he was still saddened by the loss of his friend. Jesus taught us to pray as he did to his Heavenly Father seeking comfort as he mourned and in doing so obtained divine power to stand firm when all those about deserted him.
ASSUREDLY LIVING
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up” (James 4:7-10). Living in the peace and assurance of God’s grace and salvation for our lives starts with submission. It does not start with ingenuity, leadership or even intellect, it begins by our being obedient to God and his precepts as lovingly detailed by his words, actions and deed in the Bible. We are exhorted to resist the devil and to draw close to God living our life holding Him near and dear to our heart. By our purification, we are able to live our lives for Christ purging from our lives all thoughts that would seek to derail our faith. By washing away all evil from our lives, we are able to sanctify our spirit changing our grief and pain to humbly serve God knowing at the appointed time that he will raise us up delivering for eternity, our lives to safer grounds and greener pastures.
