GACS – Thanksgiving Day Volunteers needed to help with craft projects for children during Thanksgiving Day meal at Greater Atlanta Christian School
7 Bridges to Recovery-Thanksgiving Day If you want to join us on Thanksgiving Day, we always meet at the Kmart on Cleveland Avenue and I-75 at 10:00AM. We go out rain/shine/ snow/ or any other weather that comes up. We open in prayer and then break into teams to go minister in the streets and under the bridges. Everyone follows in their own vehicles/church vans and we move from location to location sharing the Good News of Christ with our brothers and sisters out on the streets. We usually finish about 4:30pm at the Garden where we have a closing and share with each other what God has shown us throughout the day. We have two different routes: The Bridges and the Bluff. The Bridges go under the various bridges of Atlanta and The Bluff is more into the streets. Each time, we prepare about 450-500 lunches for the streets and if you and your group would like to bring some lunches, please let us know and we will make the rest. RSVP is requested for groups of 10 or more or if you are planning on bringing any lunches. You can call 678-430-3698 or email 7bridgestorecovery@gmail.com go to 7bridgestorecovery.org for more information. Safe for children of all ages
SaltLight Shelter The SaltLight Shelter is in need of Blessing Bags to send out with the women and children when they leave the shelter each day. The Blessing Bags contain three meals in one gallon zip lock bag. If this is something your group would like to do they can put them together and deliver them to SaltLight. You can contact Carol Karpf to make sure of the delivery time at slc@familypromisegwinnett.org or call 770-885-2947. SaltLight is also looking for volunteers and Carol will be having more training sessions. If anyone in your group is interested or you know anyone interested please have them contact Carol Karpf.
No-Charge Grocery Shopping November 12th 10am to 2 pm Huffman House will open a no-charge “grocery store” in the community center of the Knollwood Apartments, a low-income community in Lawrenceville. We have served individual residents of this community, and done some group donations there. Then this idea came to us and we are responding. We will take non-perishable foods such as canned meats, fruits and vegetables, cereal, long shelf-life milk, 100% juice drinks, formula, dry beans and rice, pasta products, peanut butter, and many other items. Residents will be able to choose the items they would most enjoy. It will be quite an undertaking. Please let us know if you’d like to help with the store, physically or financially, on Saturday, the 12th. We’re asking for your help to make this work. Thanks! She needs volunteer help in the set up and break down: 8:30-10am and 2-3pm. Contact Barbara Huffman if you can help barbara@huffmanhouse.com
