Using a Payroll Service and a CPA is Your Best Bet for Business Tax Success
Duluth/Gwinnett CPA: Using a Payroll Service and a CPA is Your Best Bet for Business Tax Success.
At His CPA PC we believe as Christian CPA’s in telling the truth and the truth is that in 30 years of being a CPA in Atlanta that I have never discovered and doubt that I ever will find a way to business payroll that is better and less expensive than having a payroll service handling all of your payroll reporting requirements. The below is a sample letter for a client that we received on a return that was not well thought out and considered and their inquiry:
Here is accountant’s response to your questions: I didn’t know that you did not have a W-2 for yourself. I can make a W-2 form for you, based on the reported wages. However, another problem will be created, if you have not been doing your quarterly Federal and State Payroll Tax Reporting Forms, and paying your Social Security on your wages. I can also start doing your payroll reporting forms for you, if you send me the amount of wages you gave yourself for each quarter during the year. First quarter is January-March, due April 30th. Second quarter is April-June, due July 31st. Third quarter is July-September, due October 31st. Fourth quarter is October-December, due January 31st. I have tables to compute the amounts of Social Security, Federal and State tax, you need to send in. Call me, if you need to, as all this business reporting requirement can get complicated. You didn’t need to worry about payroll reporting, until the corporation made enough money to pay you some wages. Most new corporations barely earn enough to pay operating expenses.
Below is my response:
Per my voice mail I suggest you have me fix your wife’s 2011 returns and address the W-2 issue. To do so I will need her ID # with the GA Dept of Labor & GA Dept. of Revenue.
Please get this to me asap and I will address. For 2012 I suggest you first tell me what you believe your wife’s business will net in 2012 and then I can do some tax planning so you can tell the new payroll service what you monthly withholding and paycheck should be. I suggest you contact Ms. Carolynn MarieFay of Paychex for your 2012 payroll needs at 404 519 9593.
As an Atlanta CPA I have learned that the biggest administrative burden for all those with employees is the processing of their payroll reports and payments. To learn more about payroll and its processing please see http://www.hiscpa.com/payroll-tax.html
