Atlanta/Duluth GA  CPA Presents 7’s heart: Seeking to Serve Christ in All Ways…Taking Christianity Into the World

Serving/Feeding the Homeless of Atlanta: Serving the Least, the Lost and the Last

Word for the week: Strength In Weakness. Matt 20:20-28

No one wants to be weak, so we find ways to appear strong. Some of us use the force of our emotions to manipulate people. Others use the force to control people, and some use intellect to intimidate. Although these create an illusion of strength, they are signs of weakness.  When we are truly strong, we have the courage to admit our limitations and to acknowledge our dependence on God. As a result, true strength looks a lot like weakness. When the apostle Paul prayed that an affliction would be taken from him, God answered, ” My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength us made perfect in weakness.” (Cor.12:9) Paul responded with these troubling words: “when I am weak, then I am strong.” Toward the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry, some of His disciples were striving for positions of prominence. Jesus used their argument as an opportunity to teach them that we willingly assume positions of weakness ( Matt 20:26).

This is a hard truth. I prefer the illusion of strength to  the reality of weakness. But God wants us to realize that true strength comes when we stop trying to control people and start serving them instead. Whoever decides to become great among you, let him be your servant. Matthew 20:26

I would like to thank all the volunteers that came out to the bridges Saturday. I was touched to see so many willing hearts going and serving the last, lost, and the least. I also want to say thank you to all the volunteers that help keep Gods ministry running.  There are so many blessings being poured out and so many prayers being answered inside the ministry. Glory be to God!!!

Oswald stated that we should not look for God to come in any particular way, but do look for him. The way to make room for him is to expect him to come, but not in a certain way.  Let God surprise you!! Live in a constant state of expectancy. Every day that God  gives you,. allow him to guide you and trust in his word because he will fulfill his promises. We are expecting God each and every day to show up and show out inside of His ministry.  Don’t put boundaries on God, especially on what is already his. Thank you for your hearts, thank you for your support, and thank you for the continual love that you pour out for this ministry. May God Bless you.

Love, Pastor 7

Pastor 7 with 7 Bridges to Recovery is doing great things to Feed the Homeless of Atlanta while spreading the word of God. I suggest you go down and see what he is doing on the weekends to take the message to the streets of Atlanta. I believe he would be a great speaker to the whole congregation and Discipleship Groups as people are looking for opportunities to get real with their faith by being the very Hands and Feet of Jesus Christ.    You can read about his Ministry at http://www.7bridgestorecovery.org/home_page.html   We are actively involved in going and supporting Pastor 7 and the great work he is doing to Serve the Lost, the Last & the Least.     John Dillard, CPA of His CPA, PC (An Atlanta Christian CPA firm) 1940 Woods River Lane, Duluth, GA 30097  Phone 770-814-9304   http://www.hiscpa.com/    http://www.john-dillard.com/

CPA Serving Tucker/Norcross/Sandy Springs Presents Pastor 7’s Heart…Serving the Homeless of Atlanta…Taking Christianity Into the World

I would like to start this week’s email with a question…..  If you had to choose would you rather be Samson or Samuel?? “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon , and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets. ” Hebrews 11:32

Samson and Samuel were both very much the same and very different. Both men were judges, anointed of God to lead Israel. Both took the vow of the Nazarite. Both fought the Philistines. Both men are included in Hebrews 11 and in God’s Hall of Fame. Samson, a man of incredible physical strength, was impetuous, carnal, lustful, driven by his appetites.  In his hunger for vengeance he plead with God to destroy not only the philistines, but also his own life. By way of contrast, Samuel, a man of incredible spiritual strength, was content to let God fight his battles for him. A man powerful in the word of prayer, he lead Israel back from the worship of dead idols to the living God. Samson’s confidence was in what God had given him; Samuel’s confidence was in what God could do through him.

In the flesh, Samson appears more attractive to many men. Alive, confident, he boldly sought to do great things for God. On the other hand Samuel was more quiet, somewhat reclusive, available as a channel for whatever God wanted to do. Although God called Samson great, those who emulate him have a problem. If God had not placed him in his Hall of fame, Samson’s carnal lifestyle would make you wonder if he was saved. Thus, he who follows Samson’s example must wait until the judgment for affirmation; those who know and love him cannot affirm his carnality. You have a better model in Samuel.

We are so in awe with God. All permits and contracts are signed and construction started today. I’m going to just keep allowing God to show how miraculous he is in all our lives. God is always right on time. I would like to say thank you for all your prayers, love , and support that is given.  May many blessings be poured out like a river upon your lives. God bless.

GO JESUS GO JESUS GO!  LOVE,  Pastor 7

Atlanta CPA Offers Inspiration for the Week

Atlanta CPA Offers Inspiration for the Week

Did you know that in the book of Hebrews, the 11th chapter, the word faith is mentioned 25 times? In everything by prayer in supplication, with thanksgiving, let my request be made known to God. – Philippians 4:6  In the normal course of providence, God works in and through reason, some answers to prayer are difficult to prove with certainty.

”Only faith vouches for the connection,” CC Lewis writes, “No empirical proof could establish it.” We believe a prayer has been answered not because of any scientific criteria proving it, but because we have faith.

Most of the ways we encounter Go- nature, the bible, the lords supper, the church, other people- including things we can touch. God own state though, is the realm of the spirit.  Prayer reflects that difference between us.

Although we may ask God to intervene directly, it should not surprise us if he responds in a more hidden way in cooperation with our own choices. An alcoholic might pray, ” Lord keep me from drinking today,” the answer to that prayer will likely come from the inside- from a stiffening resolve or a cry for help to a loyal friend- rather than some marvel  like the magical disappearance of liquor bottles from a cabinet.

Whether God supernaturally intervenes or is giving us the power to obey him, we trust his character. We see a true partnership, intimate and intertwined. -Philip Yancey

                                           Help me to walk aright,

                                          More by faith, less by sight;

                                           Lead me with heavenly light-

Teach me thy way - Ramsey

Just a little update, don’t forget the LOVE CONCERT at the garden starting at 7pm. Come early to make sure you get a seat. Performing praise and worship will be the praise team of the garden. Pastor Edward McKnight will be giving an exhortation on how to use love as a weapon against the enemy and in everyday life. There will also be spirit dancing. Again we will say this concert is not to raise money but to show our love and appreciation for everything you all have done for us here at 7Bridges.

Just to let you know, on February the 15th I will be on Atlanta live TV station between 7 and 9.  I need all your prayers. There is so much going on in the ministry right now Gods favor is truly upon us.  We are so blessed that God is using us for his glory in their lives. Hope to see you at the concert and let me say thank you for your love and prayers and support.

Atlanta CPA Presents Pastor 7’s Heart (Serving the Homeless of Atlanta)…Taking Christianity Into the World

Who Do You Love?

What’s up!? Here is the word for the week. Matthew 6:5-15. Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.-Matthew 6:8. In my early years as a pastor, I served in small churches where finances were often tight. Sometimes our family finances felt the weight of that pressure. On one occasion, we were down to the last of our food and payday was still several days away. While my wife and I fretted about how we would feed our kids in the next few days, our doorbell rang. When we opened the door, we discovered two bags of groceries. We had not told anyone of our plight, yet our provider God had led someone to meet that need.

This reminds me of the Old Testament account of Abraham when he was asked to sacrifice his son Isaac. At just the right moment, God provided a ram instead. Abraham called this place Jehovah-Jirah, “The-Lord-Will-Provide” (Gen. 22:14). He is the One who still cares deeply for His children.

Jesus said, “Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him’ (Matt. 6:8). He is constantly caring for and seeking the best for us-a reminder that in times of hardship, need, and fear, we have Someone who cares. Peter wrote that we can cast all our cares upon Jesus, because he cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). We can turn to Him in our time of need.

I know not by what methods rare    The Lord provides for me;   I only know that all my needs  He meets so graciously.

For everyone’s awareness be sure to share with everyone about  Feb. 14th The Love Concert that we are having at The Garden. It will start at 7:00 p.m. and should have everyone out of there by 9:00 p.m. It will be a night of Love, worship, and Pastor Edward will be bringing the exhortation “How To Use Love as a Weapon”. We normally do this to raise money but this time it’s not about money, we want to show our love and appreciation for what everyone has done for 7 Bridges in 2009. To know we can except great and more awesome things to come in 2010. Sugarloaf make sure you are there, everyone at Mt. Bethel, and the First United Methodist of Smyrna, Keisha Cook and family, Tim, Shaky, Rich, all my Gainesville boys, Sandy and everyone else, that prepares lunches for the bridges. I don’t want to leave out Flood. Come expecting miracles and an impact of love that we want and desire to share with each of you. To even the ones I didn’t mention you know I love you too. Hope to see ya’ll there. I thank all of you for your prayers, support, and love. Your brother in Christ, 7.

Atlanta CPA Presents Word for the Day: Becoming Whole Romans 7:13-25…Taking Christianity Into the World

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Atlanta CPA Presents Word for the Day: Becoming Whole Romans 7:13-25…Taking Christianity Into the World

When a friend fell of her bike and suffered  a severe brain injury, doctors weren’t sure she would survive. For several days she reminded suspended between life and death. The first good news came when she opened her eyes. Then she responded to simple voice commands. But with very small improvement, anxiety remained. how far would she progress? After one difficult day of therapy, her husband was discouraged. But the very next morning he exclaimed:” Sandy’s back ! ” Physically, Mentally, and emotionally, Sandy was becoming the “self” we knew and loved.

Sandy’s fall reminds me of “the fall” of mankind (Gen. 3) And her struggle to recover parallels our struggle to overcome the brokenness of sin. ( Rom 7:18) If only her body healed, recovery would be incomplete. The same would be true if the brain worked but her body didn’t.

Wholeness means that all parts works together for one purpose. God is the one healing Sandy, but she has to work hard in therapy. The same is true of us spiritually. After God saves us through Christ, we must “work out” our salvation (Phil.2:12)- not to earn it but to bring our thoughts and actions into agreement with His purpose- Julie Ackerman Links

More like the Master I would ever be,

                 More of his meekness, more humility;

More zeal to labor, more courage to be true,

More consecration for work He bids me do. -Gabriel  ( to become whole, keep yielding to the Holy Spirit. )

With much love, I would greatly like to appreciate all the volunteers that keep this ministry running.  We will be having a LOVE Concert Feb 14th. It won’t be to raise $money$ but to show our love and appreciation for keeping this ministry alive. So always remember we thank you for all your support, prayer, and love.

Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. -Phil 2:12

Duluth GA CPA Presents Pastor 7’s heart…Taking Christianity Into the World

Duluth GA CPA Pastor 7’s heart…Taking Christianity Into the World

Word for the week:   Can you spare a dime??   ((2 Corinthians 9:6-15)) In her insightful book The Forgotten Man, Amity Shlaes provides fascinating stories about what life was like during the Great depression in the US. At the center of the economic drama was “the forgotten man”, a term used for the countless individuals who were thrown out of work. A popular Depression -era song poignantly expresses their story: They used to tell me I was building a dream with peace and glory ahead. Why should I be standing in line, just waiting for bread? Once I built a railroad, I made it run, made it race against time. Once I built a railroad…. Brother can you spare a dime? An economic down turn changes everything for hard working people who lose their jobs. When that happens we as Christians should do what we can for people in need. In Galatians 2, Paul and Barnabas were reminded to evangelize and to “remember the poor” (v.10). Paul did just that- preaching the gospel and encouraging financial aid to those in need (Acts 11:29-30; 1 Cor. 16:1-3). During tough economic times, we to should help people in need- spiritually and physically.

~ He who has mercy on the poor, happy is her. -Proverbs 14:21

Final comments::The Christmas concert was outstanding!! There is so much going on in the ministry of 7Bridges. On Christmas day we took over 100 people under the bridges in the city of Atlanta. Last night we took all the ladies, children, and men to a Christmas dinner at Maggianos.

We all enjoyed a wonderful 3 course meal, music and lots of dancing!! You ought to have seen the ladies and tasted all the flavorful food. Such a great time. Words can’t describe the thank you I would like to give everyone for their help. The hand of God is totally moving in the ministry and to see everyone being used by God is amazing!  So I am processing right now on how to show my appreciation for the love, work, support, and prayers that’s been taking place in our lives. Last year, we did a love concert to raise money for the ministry. I’m thinking Feb 14th Love Concert wont be to raise money  but to show our love to all of you for what you have done in Gods ministry. The word of God is true in Phil 4:19 He supplies all our needs.

I am so thankful and so blessed by God to witness what he accomplishing in all our lives. So thank you and I love you, until next week.

GO JESUS GO JESUS GO!
