Atlanta Christian Author’s book Low Country Calling by John Dillard CPA

Low Country Calling by John Dillard CPA

David, Low Country Calling’s main character, is introduced as a young man who is just out of school.  Taking his southern heritage with him, David is soon off to Officer Cadet School where he meets Alice with whom he shares a mutual attraction and a magical walk along the beach.  Their first meeting, a magical moment leads them to want to discover more of what God has in store for them.

As David and Alice get to know each other better they find they share a similar upbringing, and a vast amount of similarities.  David and Alice share their first kiss and begin their courtship together.  Soon David graduates at the top of his class from Officer Cadet School and then from Basic as a Second Lieutenant.  Beginning to feel God’s tugging on his heart to grow deeper, David begins a Bible study to spread God’s love.  Join David in the cockpit of an F-18 simulator as he amazes himself as well as his instructor.

David begins Aviator school where his reputation as a leader continues to grow and he meets Professor Kendrick who in full dress whites gives the cadets a speech to stir their heart to patriotism, honor and a drive to excel.  Clearly moved, David redoubles his efforts to do his very best.  David and Alice ‘s romance continues to bring them closer as they invite God to join them in all levels of their relationship, even when they hit a bump in the road.

David awakens early one Sunday and heads out to the highest knoll on campus where he prays and communes with God himself.  Praying for God’s guidance and blessings for this relationship with Alice, God answers his prayer and calls and tugs on David’s heart to seek Him even more.  Graduating at the top of his class, David receives the assignment he asks for and is to report to Pensacola, Florida for Flight School.  David and Alice’s days together are spent helping David with his studies as they strive to plan their life together.  David successfully completes Flight School in Pensacola and readies himself to fulfill his lifelong dream to be a Naval Aviator.

David begins his active duty on the aircraft carrier, The Roosevelt.  Soon they are off in a task force of ships to help bring peace and democracy to the Middle East.  Meeting his new RIO (Radio Intercept Office), Steve White who will assist him in flying the F-18 Super Hornet while on station in the Mediterranean Sea and over Iraq.  First flying several routine missions, David and Steve soon find themselves embroiled in a deadly game of chase as a SAM (Surface to Air Missile) rockets towards them at Mach 3.  Trying to evade the deadly missile, David attempts something never before done in combat in an effort to save Steve and his lives.  Join them in the cockpit as white knuckling suspense heightens with every turn and thrust of the F-18 Super Hornet and the deadly SAM.

David continues his routine patrols over the Iraqi theater.  On what starts out to be a routine flight they are startled by a warning light indicating a problem with their engines.  Doing everything they can to rectify the problem, they shift to back up systems and procedures all of which fail.  Soon the F-18 Super Hornet shudders its last as both of its engines stop.  As the plane falls, David and Steve send a mayday and eject from the rapidly falling craft.  Alone now and on the run in the desert floor of Iraq, David and Steve face their greatest challenge yet as they stare face to face with their own mortality and terrorists who are striving to capture them.  Facing certain death if captured, they begin a trek through the desert floor towards their extraction point.  With danger at every turn, they find themselves now being hunted in a life and death struggle for survival.

David and Steve begin their trek across the Iraqi desert towards their rendezvous point.  Traveling at night to avoid detection, they find themselves hunted on unfamiliar terrain.  Hopelessly out-armed, David and Steve try to stay one step ahead of the terrorists who would make them their captives.  Facing certain death if caught, they fight for their very survival as their pursuers near.  Back on board the aircraft carrier, Admiral Wyrick and Major Benjamin Taylor team up to gather Intel, which will guide them to developing a plan to bring David and Steve safely home.  Admiral Wyrick vows to do everything he can and to provide all the needed resources to provide for their safe extraction.

Running and on the lam, David and Steve strive to stay one step ahead of the terrorist who are pursuing them.  Facing capture and their imminent death, David and Steve are hunted by their enemy day and night.  All alone on the run, David and Steve pull together in a life and death struggle to escape their would be captors.  On board the aircraft carrier, all onboard feverishly plan for a safe extraction.  Admiral Wyrick and Major Benjamin Taylor lead all on board in gathering Intel to ensure their rescue effort will successful.

Final plans and preparations are made for the extraction force as they begin on their rescue effort.  Flying over the Mediterranean Sea they are soon feet dry and taking the necessary fuel required to complete their journey.  David and Steve leave their relative safety of their hiding and head west towards the assigned extraction point.  Once there, they immediately begin reconnaissance of the area finding a terrorist encampment.  Retreating to the very center of the established perimeter, David and Steve huddle closely to the ground as the three SH-60B Seahawk helicopters fly overhead and then turn towards their unsuspecting prey.  Amidst the reign of fear about him, David hears Gods call for him to go into full time ministry.  Aware of his God given mission in life, David watches with a quiet confidence as AGM-114 Hellfire missiles destroy his pursuers.  Soon he finds himself on board the lead Seahawk headed back to the aircraft carrier, The Roosevelt and the fulfill his God given destiny.

David now safely back on board The Roosevelt, finally is able to relax and rejuvenate.  Rescued from certain capture from the desert floor of Iraq, David celebrates with Steve and those who rescued him.  Offering thanks to God, David revels in his faith and with those who put themselves in harms way for his safe return.  Admiral Wyrick throws a grand feast; beyond David’s expectation and thanks all those who risked it all to bring them home safely.  Soon, granted a furlough, David returns back to Quantico, VA to spend time with Alice.  Back to the site of his original trailing and where David and Alice’s romance first began to bud, David and Alice find the time and distance away has deepened their love and commitment.  Going back further to their roots they return to Pastor Barnes’s church where David witness’s firsthand God’s provision in the growth of his church and shares God’s calling on his heart to full time pasturing back in his hometown of Charleston.

Coming back to the Low Country of Charleston, South Carolina, David comes home to find it even rosier than before.  A newfound God ordained mission, David finds divine purpose in his life and a God-ordained path.  Once back home, David proposes marriage to his one true soul mate that rejoices at his offer and readily accepts his hand in marriage.  David and Alice announce their plans to his family who heartily welcome Alice into their family.  His bride beside him, David begins to think about their life and their service to God together.  Opting for a mid-day run, David parks and jogs over the Cooper River Bridge.  Enjoying the ambiance of it all, David admires the architectural beauty of the bridge, the historic city of Charleston and all of its fine homes.  Hearing God’s prompting, David jogs down an older section of the city as he soon finds his destiny.  Coming alongside an old historic church, David hears God’s voice, “Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem and we will no longer be in disgrace.”  David comes face to face with an old church whose walls lay in ruins as God lay on his heart that it was here David was to start his church and to begin his full time ministry as pastor.  Tears of joy roll down his face as David hears the Lion of Judah Low Country Calling to save the lost and to shepherd God’s flock.  Committing his life to God’s service, David commits to living his life for Christ and to the pre-ordained path God chose.  Just as two millennia ago when God led the Jews in the desert, He still speaks to all who will listen.

Author John Dillard was nominated for the 2009 Georgia Author of the Year Award after publishing Overcoming Life’s 9/11’s and nominated again for the 2010 Georgia Author of the Year Award after publishing Low Country Calling.

His CPA PC…A Different Kind of CPA Firm

News You Can Use From a Christian Accountant

Frequently we receive responses off of our web site that are much encouraging. The below is a sample of such:

Hello, Firstly let me say how wonderful I was to come across your website. I never thought or would have thought it possible for this CPA firm to exist as I myself am a Christian Accountant..but your firm is a true testament that there’s nothing God can’t do…To God be the glory!!

The below is my response:

Telling the Good News of Jesus Christ…Taking Christianity Into the World

Over six years ago we established a different kind of CPA firm — one that would bring the principles of Jesus Christ to the practice of Accounting. Being a Christian accountant who believes in Christ’s principles allows us to tap into the power of God in our daily and work lives as we assist entrepreneurs with their business accounting, personal financial planning, and tax preparation needs.

Here is John Dillard’s testimony on how he was led to create a Christian CPA practice to serve Atlanta and America as  CPA:

Having managed my own successful CPA practice in Metro Atlanta for over twenty years, I continued to feel God’s calling on my heart and his desire for me to be more about Him. I had always felt it was my mission to witness to those I came in contact with in both my business and social contacts, but God continued to lay it on my heart that He wanted much more.

Although I was willing to share my Christian faith with people to whom I came in contact with, God was calling and he wanted me to be much more overt, but loving, to share the love of God. Having practiced the Golden Rule in my CPA firm for years, God was calling to be the true center of my life and not just a major player.

With my new bride that I had met some few years ago, we set out on a journey that has led us on mission trips, publishing books, changing Georgia law, and starting a new accounting firm, His CPA, P.C.

Although we wanted to start the company at the beginning of the year God made it necessary to start the firm immediately as He wanted it done then and not later. To this end we have been faithful and continue to spread the Good News of our faith and Christianity to anyone who would like to hear.

Our faith and our lives intersect. Though we still have much to learn to grow to be like Him, we have studied his word and continue to work in Bible studies to share his love with others. My CPA firm is committed to the One who made me and we act on this daily by “Serving HIM by serving You…one tax return at a time”.

Atlanta CPA Presents: Pastor 7 and Witnessing/Serving the Homeless of Atlanta

Our Back-to-School concert and day of events went great and we are so thankful for each person that helped make that happen! We pray you were as blessed through the fellowship and worship as we were. We have been asking for 80 plastic containers to slide under the beds and they were provided last week! It is so great to watch God provide for each one of our needs every day! He is our Portion and gives us exactly what we need when we need it! All praise and honor go to Him! In the past couple of weeks, we have seen families and women be blessed with their own places and be able to move on from the Garden. We rejoice with them as God takes them into their next season of life and pray that the seeds that were planted here will continue to grow as they now go out and make disciples of those God brings into their paths!  Join us in praying that they will find Bible-teaching churches and will continue to stand on the Word of God no matter where the Lord takes them!

The Lord has blessed me with two servants of the Lord who both serve here full-time and are missionaries to the ministry. Please prayerfully consider sponsoring them financially each month as they seek to serve the Lord with their whole hearts.  Tax-deductible donations can be made to 7 Bridges to Recovery with their names on the memo line. They have both been a blessing to this ministry and I would love to see them blessed in return.

Again, we thank you for taking the time to read this update. We encourage you to come out and join us as we reach out to the least, the last, and the lost of Atlanta. We appreciate your prayers and pray this week ,you will be known for how you love one another! Lord willing, we will update again next week!

GO JESUS GO JESUS GO!  LOVE,  7

Gwinnett CPA asks Atlanta Believers: What Are You Doing Today for the Kingdom of God?

John 13:38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me?”

If a video is worth a thousand words these will indeed be priceless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsEGkj30R5Y&feature=related

God has a calling on you and your heart. If you will answer it, He will reveal His destiny for you and your life will never again be the same. Call on the Lion of Judah, the Great I Am and found the Lord of Lord, the King of Kings who will be there waiting to support, love guide and direct.

Luke 12:31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

United States CPA: Navajo Family Missions Reunion & 2011 Planning/Steering Committee

Taking Christianity Into the World

Well, can you believe that you’ve been home almost a whole month?  I hope by now you have settled back into a normal routine and gotten plenty of rest…at least enough to think about next year.  So many wonderful ideas are flowing about ways for us to help out on the reservation, things that we can do for next year to make the trip better and ways for all of us to stay in touch with each other.  We will be having our Reunion Celebration hopefully September 26th but I will confirm that later.

We are looking at and discussing ways to keep the fire lit until we can return to the reservation.  I hope to meet with every area that served on the trip and hear your thoughts, suggestions, complaints and ideas and hopefully that can start happening very soon.  Stay tuned for some upcoming ideas and if you have suggestions, please e-mail me and let me hear them.  Please continue to keep all of your teammates in your prayers.  BTW, our  mission team has a Face book page so if you are on Face book, please search Pueblo Pintado Summer Missions and join the group.

We are still heavily involved in Missions while Serving our Native Americans the Navajo on the desert of New Mexico. One of the cooler things added this past year is that we are mentoring young men and women in their walk with Christ, while teaching them how to restore Volkswagen Beetles. We also model for them Christ’s unconditional love by giving these vehicles to those in need. www.Bugs4Christ.webs.com Take a peek at our video at http://bit.ly/QS0V9  If you listen and watch with an open heart, it will change your world. For Ages Tenth Grade to 100 plus Years Old

Emmaus Community: Amazing Weekend Getaway to Deepen & Strengthen Your Faith

On our 2010 Mission Trip to Pueblo Pintado we all watched the majesty of God unfold before our very eyes on a daily, and often hourly basis. The raw beauty of Amazing Grace played as God’s sunrise appeared, the humility and beauty of the Three Sisters, our Cross on a hill, the smiles of the children in VBS and Sports camp, the joy of teaching and crafts of the Women’s Bible Study and at the Senior Center, and the great projects Construction and our Service Teams performed, and watching a VW being built before our eyes as we learned the Object Lessons of the day.

I will never forget the moments of being with each one of you as we nailed our sins and our past to the cross, how we praised and worshiped God on the Mesa and our communion there and the nails that we all have to remind us all of God’s great love and passion for our lives.

There are two great initiatives that you need to be aware of to take your faith walk deeper. SUMC has long been involved in Emmaus which is a three day weekend where you will find the love of God in a new and meaningful way that you will never have before. On your weekend you will discover peace and His forgiveness for the past, be strengthened in your faith and resolve for the journey that lays ahead. Tami & I are committed to your lives, your journey and to help see what we might do to help you discover the destiny God Himself has for your life.

This Friday, August 20th from 7:00-8:30pm; join us in the Worship Center for food, fun, fellowship and Walk information.  This is a pot luck dinner hosted by our SUMC Emmaus Community.  If you have not been on a Walk, you do not have to bring anything just yourself!  However, to ensure we have enough food and space please register at https://public.serviceu.com/registration/default.asp?OrgID=1437&EventID=4707767&OccID=167334631

Having Served in the United States as a CPA for decades I have learned again and again that seeking wise counsel is the beginning to wisdom and that we need others to help us grow closer to Christ.
