Is Your Church Ready to Experience Radical Spiritual Growth?

I believe that adult education and service/mission projects should look to work hand in hand in doing so starting each quarter to have break out weekends. The quarterly break-out sessions would include a wide host of topics from finance, to child rearing, to Missions, to Discipleship to Bible Study and would last from Friday evening to Saturday mid-day. One of the primary starting point sessions should a “brass tacks” “keep it simple” approach to what Christian Leadership looks like. Voice of One: Nehemiah’s Prayer, is for those who are seeking to be more like Christ.

Christian Leadership 101.

There are many who will buy secular book after another seeking to learn how the world sees Leadership. A Voice of One: Nehemiah’s Story is what God has to say about leadership. Humble servant-hood, an open heart, a willing body, an over-comer are all tenants of a someone to whom God can and will do great things through. Unlock the truth of the Bible, putting them to work in your life seeking to be all that God would have you be, while learning how to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

If we are to be a church of doers and to fulfill our destiny we need to guide others to live their lives to “Dare to Attempt Something so Great for the Kingdom of God that it is doomed to failure, lest Christ be in it!”

Imagine what would happen if all Believers lived their lives unafraid and willing to do God’s bidding when prompted. Freed from the chains that bound them, we would be free to do the bidding of Jesus Christ. Nehemiah’s story is about how one man, a layman, listened to God and did what all thought impossible. Nehemiah, sought the favor of a king, who provided the needed resources he needed to accomplish his task of rebuilding Jerusalem’s broken down walls in just 52 days, A Voice of One: Nehemiah’s Story will lead you and your Christian walk guiding you to higher heights still. This is a must read for Believers who are seeking to fulfill their God given destiny and want to live in accordance with God’s will.

Great Accomplishment: A Voice of One

Glory/Majesty

-By aligning ourselves with the creator of the universe we can tap into the Power of God and bring His destiny for our lives to fulfillment.

Organized/Insightful

-Starting “In the Beginning” God created the World out of order. We were all given gifts and talents that we need to be able to use, which often requires either detailed action or divine inspiration and the wisdom to know the difference.

Determined/Gritty

-God did not promise us a rose garden but he did promise great rewards if we are faithful and commit to run the race set out before us.

Willing/Prayerful

-Be sure to submit your plans before God and being ready to act/move when the Holy Spirit prompts.

Inspired/Heaven Centered

-If we continue to look for God we are most apt to see Him. Seeking Him Daily through quiet time, prayer, study and fasting we are most able to be ready to see His work.

Submission/Wisdom

-We cannot do this world on our own. Seeking the guidance of wise mentors is essential to prudent decision making.

Humble

-Giving all the glory to God in all things will help keep our pride in check, as it is only through God’s power that we can accomplish great things.

God’s Wish is My Command…Seek to Honor God in All That You Do

Duluth GA/Gwinnett/Alpharetta CPA Encourages You to Let Your Love Light Shine

Taking Christianity Into the World

I recently received the below sample inquiry off of my web site:

I have recently become a CPA in Atlanta.  I am currently working in a corporate accounting environment for a large company. I desire to honor Christ in my relationships, and build meaningful relationships for his glory.  I am sensing that I may have more opportunity to interact with people on a meaningful level as a CPA (offering tax planning, tax service, etc.).  It seems to me that this could be more effective to reach people than remaining in my current environment.

This idea is very much in the planning stage currently.  I have reached out to a CPA who runs a firm in the eastern part of Atlanta who has honored the Lord in his business.  He gave me some helpful input based on his experience. Can you recommend any resources that expand on the idea of using a business (or even more specifically, an accounting environment) to reach out into the community for the glory of God?  Or, can you tell me a bit about your story?  And how would I go about even beginning a venture like this? For His name!

Below is my response:

A Voice of One: Nehemiah’s Prayer is what God has to say about leadership. Humble servant-hood, an open heart, a willing body, an over-comer are all tenants of a someone to whom God can and will do great things through. Christian CPA John Dillard Works to Improve Rights of Georgia Crime Victims

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

In the Fall of December 2004, I had occasion to meet with someone who worked in the District Attorney’s Office in California. She advised that California had a law on the books for about seven years that required the perpetrators of serious crimes against children, such as molestation, to pay for the victim’s medical and counseling care. By the end of the week of that meeting God asked me to take this issue to the state of Georgia as our state, at that time, had nothing to protect our Georgia children. God crystallized what I was supposed to do and in a desire to be obedient I set about to accomplish what He had asked me to do, “to make this a Georgia law.”

Within a week of God telling me to march, I was able to obtain a meeting with GA Senator Renee Unterman, a woman who like myself had a heart for those who could not protect themselves. Within sixty days the proposed law and I were in front of the most influential committee in either GA House, the Senate Judiciary Committee who quickly unanimously agreed to its passage. From there the bill went to the Senate Floor where it also passed 47-1. Our next stop was the GA House where unfortunately the law got stuck. I guess God did not want the law passed in 2004. During this time and since I continually contacted and lobbied the Governor Perdue’s Office and I thought that those contacts were falling on deaf ears. Boy was I soon to be surprised.

To begin the 2005 Legislative Session, Governor Perdue sponsored the Crime Victim Restitutions Act of 2005, which set up a procedure for notification, and reimbursement of the victim’s medical and counseling expenses. 86% of the Georgia legislature voted in favor of the bill and then the Governor signed it on April 11 and it will become law on July 1, 2005.

I do not feel that I accomplished any of this but I do know that I was obedient to God and to His leading and to what God would have me do. No matter what it is, listen to that still small voice the Lion of Judah, the Alpha and the Omega speaking to you and to your heart. Make time for Him each and every day of your lives. Put on the armor of God and meet the world head on keeping in mind and focusing on eternal things. Dare to dream, dare to move, and know that He alone is God. Together we can all make a difference in this world. Dare to attempt something so great for God that it is doomed to failure lest He be in it!

The Inspiration Series

We are all faced with obstacles, disappointments and failures in our lives and we are continually seeking ways to overcome life’s challenges.  We get mired in the day-to-day and forget that through God, all things are possible, by the knowledge and faith in God’s word. As you read along you will see how to persevere through untold tragedies, how to accomplish great things in God’s name and how to live your life the way God always intended. The Inspiration Series will show how, through prayer and being “still”, to discern God’s immutable will for their lives. Sharing the stories of how ordinary people like you and me can do great things through God’s providence, guiding us to see how God is divinely in control of our lives and that God’s discipline is the tool God uses as an act of love, making us more like him.  All books in The Inspiration Series are to be used to develop Bible study handbooks, speaking engagements and a series for children as well.

The Inspiration Series is for those who are just stepping out in their faith to those who have been seeking God’s will all their lives.  It will touch those who are lost, frustrated, who feel insignificant and show them that God has a purpose for them and needs each and every one of us to fulfill his perfect will.  It is for readers who are looking to deepen their relationship with Christ and further seek to overcome life’s challenges God’s way.  It will help all readers to learn how to discern God’s will and do his calling and not that of their own.

At present, there is not a book that is in direct competition with The Inspiration Series as we strive to better see God’s will, defining moments, and His destiny for our lives. You will be able to look to these works as a guide and prayer bringing fresh revelations predominantly by the study of the Old Testament discovering the love and grace of our God rather than his condemnation. Come along as you discover a God who is your Abba Father who will never forsake or desert you. As you read you will gain confidence with easy to follow applications and actionable guidelines to help you accomplish the best for your life.

In life as we grow in both knowledge and wisdom we are able to witness people in both the best and worst of times. I have seen many friends and associates soar well beyond what they had originally seen as limiting factors. I enjoy and relish being able to make a difference in the lives of others.

Overcoming Life’s 9/11’s is the first of the series and A Voice of One follows.

Overcoming Life’s 9/11’s

God’s Way of Overcoming Obstacles in Your Life
The First Volume of John Dillard’s Inspiration Series

The walk of a believer is often fraught with trials and tribulations leading to both defeat and victory. Life’s tragedies, your personal 9/11’s come into our lives seemingly in waves as we face obstacles, which both challenge our confidence and test our faith. Time stood still as the towers fell on that fateful day on September 11, 2001 and lives all over the world were changed forever and the world as we knew it would never be the same.  It is only by the power of an almighty God that we are to persevere.

As tragedy befalls our life, God shares his wisdom with us so we might overcome the world. By leaning on him in the darkness that befalls us, we are able to rise above circumstances that otherwise might cripple our lives. There will be times when you will feel abandoned by all those about you who choose to criticize rather than support and encourage you. We all need a “safe place to fall,” a family member or a brother or sister in Christ who will comfort us in our time of need. Come along one man’s journey as he loses it all becoming both mentally and physically challenged at every turn discovering God never leaves his side and indeed believes in him even during his darkest times. God has a unique calling on our lives and it is through Overcoming Life’s 9/11’s we are able to become more like him.

“Build up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people.”
Isaiah 57:14

A Voice of One

Accomplishing God’s Special Mission for Your Life
The Second Volume of John Dillard’s Inspiration Series

You alone are uniquely positioned to achieve God’s vision for your life. A God who knows the number of the very hairs on your head has a great purpose only you can accomplish. Learn how one man, Nehemiah, made a difference in the lives of many. Seeking God’s will each and every step of the way, Nehemiah prayerfully seeks to rebuild the walls, which protect the city of Jerusalem and her people.

Nestled deep in the Bible’s Old Testament lived an ordinary man who steps out to accomplish great things in God’s name. Leaving the safety of his position as the cupbearer to the king of Babylon, Nehemiah puts himself into harm’s way exposing himself to enemies who scheme and purpose to see him fail. Overcoming each and every obstacle, Nehemiah’s destiny is to rebuild Jerusalem’s city’s walls that were essential for the nation’s very survival.

The remnant of Israel had been in exile and was beginning to return to the Promised Land only to find the land of their forefathers in disarray. Jerusalem’s city walls lay in ruin exposing her to enemies who would threaten the nation’s very existence. Following the burden God lays on his heart Nehemiah rebuilt the city’s walls in just fifty-two days. Leading the way, Nehemiah asks for assistance from those who can help him the most and prayerfully develops a team unifying them to accomplish a miraculous feat.

Prayerfully, Nehemiah sets out and quietly brings together the whole of the Jewish nation. Finding doomsayers at every turn, Nehemiah overcomes each and every obstacle and builds, brick by brick, the ramparts that will protect the city from her foes. Never deterred in his vision, Nehemiah continues developing a coalition uniting a people giving them leadership and a clear vision and ultimately rededicating the city and its people to God.

Nehemiah never falters and never sways from his mission. God has a special plan for your life and a reward at its end. We serve a God who wants only the best for you and your life. Ask and act boldly to serve and to do great things in God’s name!

A Voice of One calling: ‘In the desert prepare the way for the LORD;
make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God’”
(Isaiah 40:3)

Gwinnett CPA Actively Seeking Speaking Engagements to Promote Navajo Family Missions…Taking Christianity Into the World

First, In your 11-17 meeting, if appropriate, I would welcome presenting a book written by myself entitled A Voice of One. It is about how we as ordinary people can accomplish great things in God’s name. Senator Unterman was instrumental in the process of passing the Crime Victims Act of 2008 to protect Georgia’s children. See http://www.hiscpa.com/community.htm

Secondly, I would welcome taking to your group about our Annual Family Mission Trip to serve the Navajo people in Pueblo Pintado. Though our group is multifaceted we predominantly focus our energy and efforts on the youth. I would welcome coming in and talking to your group as we are also looking for other churches and groups to partner with. Below is a sample of the follow piece I send to invite other church and civic groups to Move God’s Message Forward.

Navajo Family Indian Missions Video…Taking Christianity Into the World

If a picture is worth a thousand words then perhaps this is a Million Dollar Video. I invite you to see what God is doing with Navajo Family Missions as we Take Christianity Into the World.

I invite you to pray before you watch, that you watch with a open heart, and then that you listen to the Lion of Judah, Our God, speaking to your heart. Perhaps your family, your church, your Bible study group might join our Family Missions Work to the Navajo as we call down the power of Almighty God as we Worship, Grow and Serve Jesus Christ. See God at work at  http://bit.ly/QS0V9 If you listen and watch with an open heart, it will change your world.

We are led to take Christ to the Navajo Nation (approximately the size of West Virginia). We are looking to take our model of service to the Navajo in Pueblo Pintado by partnering with churches, Bible Study Groups, Rotary, Chambers of Commerce and Kiwanis and then branching out to other locations on the reservation. We are looking for groups throughout America to speak to with the stated goal of:

Duluth CPA Presents Service Opportunity This Thanksgiving: Serving the Homeless: Taking Christianity Into the World

Hope this finds you doing well and having a great week.  As if there isn’t enough going on at Thanksgiving, I wanted to tell you about an opportunity that has come up.  Some of us from Sugarloaf United Methodist Church were blessed to serve with Pastor 7 and pass out food to the homeless this past Saturday.  It is an incredible ministry and the devotion and dedication that he and his “crew” have for the homeless and misplaced is awe-inspiring.  One need he expressed was that they don’t have any plans for Thanksgiving to feed everyone at 7Bridges so a few of us put our heads together and decided that that would be a great way to spend our Thanksgiving.  So here is what we’re doing…

  • Collecting coats, blankets, sleeping bags, gloves, caps, lotion to deliver to the homeless later that day.  Pastor 7 will be taking us to downtown Atlanta under the bridges to deliver these in person.
  • Asking for help to come to Smyrna on Thanksgiving day to help us cook and serve the homeless women & men who are trying to turn their life around.  You don’t have to stay all day – a few hours or even one would be appreciated
  • Asking for help in collecting food or money for food to purchase the food that we are going to cook and serve
  • Asking for people who have families to celebrate Thanksgiving with to cook an extra dish of something they are serving and donate it to us to take to 7Bridges.

Please pass this e-mail along to anyone who might be able/willing to help with any of the above.  We would love to serve alongside you on Thanksgiving.

God bless You All.

Thank you for caring and please pray for Pastor 7, his men and the ministry. To learn about his ministry visit http://www.7bridgestorecovery.org/home_page.html

Duluth CPA on Taking Christianity Into the World

In my night job I am a warrior for the Kingdom of God.

During the day I am a mild mannered CPA.

The Apostle Paul tells us to be bold in our faith. Though I strive to practice excellence in all things, as we are to do all things to the Glory of God. In it is my Walk With Christ, that I look to grow to be more like Jesus by conforming more to His image than that of the World.

Listen to God and He will direct your steps both through life’s trials and as you strive to serve Him by your acts of love and mercy for others. Though we are fortunately Saved by Grace alone, it is in this Awe Inspiring Love that our Cup Runs Over by Serving Others and thereby Taking Christianity Into the World.

Lean not on your own understanding but on that of our Heavenly Father as He directs your steps guiding you to Divine Appointments as your fulfill His Destiny for your life.

Casting a Vision…Navajo Family Missions…Taking Christianity Into the World

We just completed our annual mission trip to the Navajo Indian Reservation in Pueblo Pintado, NM. Since day one it has been a family mission trip and was the third year that our family was involved and the second year that my wife led the trip and the third year that I was allowed to serve as the spiritual leader. This year was a huge success as we began to see the effects of the Navajo people embracing our efforts by their words, actions, materials/supplies and support of our service. Those who served alongside of us this year will never be the same as God joined us and our efforts in a big way. For the 2009 mission trip we focused on Vacation Bible School, Adult Bible Study, Arts and Crafts at the Senior home, and construction. Some of the highlights of the trip included seeing the results of those coming to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, a Community night and a deepening of the relationships previously established. We were also able to share Bibles from the American Bible Society written in the native tongue of the Navajo.

Dare to Attempt Something so Great for the Kingdom of God that it is doomed to failure, lest Christ be in it!

Casting a Vision. Though many might see this a slogan, I do not. The Apostle Paul all called us to  be bold in our faith and that in so doing will do great things in God’s name. In our past blogs at http://www.christianpost.com/blogs/cpa/2009/03/i-double-dog-dare-you-taking-christianity-into-the-world-27/index.html we exhorted Believers throughout the world to strive to do something so BIG that it was doomed to failure unless God was in it. Our latest book A Voice of One: Nehemiah’s Prayer which can be reviewed at http://www.john-dillard.com/ encouraging Believers of all faiths  that we are indeed all Lay Ministers who should be looking to serve and honor God, regardless of affiliations whether Baptist, Episcopal, Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc. Below are a few thoughts I have for seeing what God might do with us, if we let him lead guide and direct. Prayerfully consider these as you strive to see God’s hand for you and your life.

Visioning for Family Missions to the Navajo Indian Reservation for 2010 & Beyond

-Establishing a relationship with the President of the Navajo Nation.

-Looking to have five Centers of Influence (CI) throughout the Navajo Nation the same week, including the capital. CI’s will be strategically placed to offer housing for attendants with each CI having its own Vacation Bible School, Adult Bible Studies, Senior Center Activities and Construction.

-Working with the local county schools to house events/members/missionaries with each CI having approximately sixty missionaries who are serving, which would result in over 300 missionaries serving the Navajo Nation. Each CI would have a team leader who would work in unison to accomplish established team/service goals.

-Deepening cross-cultural ties with the Navajo Nation while spreading the good news of Jesus Christ, with the primary focus of fulfilling the Great Commission and developing disciples, local leaders and supporting local Navajo churches.

-Developing a team approach to Missions where Navajo are invited to co-lead and serve at all levels of service with the ultimate goal of the Navajo people taking the lead to accomplish stated Mission Goals throughout the year.

-Only do construction projects where at least one local family member is involved in its work with the goal to team building and developing a local culture of “Paying it Forward.”

-Ensuring that all trips are self-funded (goal will be for trips to be revenue/expense neutral to each church) with each participant predominantly raising monies through support letters, while also seeking prayer support.

-Identification of key personnel including a liaison who will share ideas with all CI leaders and world-wide marketing of the required supplies and joint vision using the Internet.

-Seeking through prayer continually the prompting of the Holy Spirit for guidance and direction while keeping at the forefront the Parable of the Soils.

-Gaining involvement of ten churches throughout the U.S. with at least thirty members/missionaries from each.

Listen to the quiet words and prodding of the Holy Spirit and see what He brings forth remembering to always strive to do something so BIG, that there is no way it will ever occur, unless God shows His favor.
