Achieving Excellence in Missions: Putting Your Whole Heart In…Taking Christianity Into the World

As Believers we are called to practice excellence in all that we do from the most menial task to the most challenging. Also the Bible exhorts us to do our very best as we are told, “he who can be trusted with little, can be trusted with much.” When I do life, I strive to be present in all conversations and to let God lead my words rather than those of my own, being sure to be God like in the moment and serving Him at all times and phases of my work, school, social and home time. Recently, as a result of our mission work we were asked to be the God parents of one the children we serve. I share this not to draw any attention to ourselves, as all of the glory is to God, but to encourage you to higher heights still, seeking to serve God with all your heart, all of your might, and all of your mind. Godspeed!

I was wondering if we can ask you something, you two have done a lot for my daughter. Before she couldn’t not do much at her age but you made a lot of difference in her life, she keeps in contact with you both and thanks for paying for her tickets to fly over there.
We were wondering if you both can become her God parents or maternal parents because she is looking forward going over there and spending time with you all.

Let me know because as parents we worry about our kids even when they walk out the door and we think she is going to a nice place with her other family. Like I said, my family here has a nice and warming family in the east that care, I think this is where the Lord put us together. Again thanks for all the things you do for us, take care God Bless from friends and family in New Mexico.

Serving Locally While Acting Globally: Walking the Walk…Navajo Family Missions Series Day 6… Taking Christianity Into the World

This is Day 6 of the Navajo Family Mission Series of our Weekly Family Trip To Serve the Navajo People of Pueblo Pintado. It is about sixty people who for an entire week lay down their jobs, vacations and responsibilities to be the very hands and feet of Christ. This is their story. Jesus often withdrew to the solitude of the desert to pray and be strengthened. Come along side us and see the changes of  hearts, passions and lives as God joins us on our journey To catch a further look at our vision for our work there visit http://www.hiscpa.com/blog/2009/07/30/casting-a-vision-navajo-family-missions-taking-christianity-into-the-world/  If you and your church are encouraged by our journey, join us as we look to revival for the Navajo People, by taking Christianity Into the World

Day 6 – July 15, 2009 – Thursday – Jesus Gives Us The Power to Live Forever.

Bible Verse:  John 14:19 says “Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see Me.  Because I live, you will also live.”

Susan shared that Stoney and Hayden drew the three crosses for the drama session and did a great job.  The kids liked the visual of being able to see their sins moving from the criminals to Jesus where He forgave their sins.  The song for the day was Come to Jesus.  She thought that the kids would have a hard time learning this song, but they were all able to pick up the words and the sign language.  For Susan, this was an awesome moment.

Also, Susan noted that the kids continued to focus on the meaning of the Bible verses for the day and to gain some understanding of how to apply them in their lives.

At the closing, Leigh E. came in with water bottles and sprayed everyone to set the mood for the end of the day – Water Day!!  One of the older girls that Susan had met on the van ride home the day before trusted her to hold her bag while she joined her younger siblings in the fun.  She said that when the girl returned for her bag, she smiled.  For Susan, this was a special connection that showed a special trust.

At the Women’s Bible Study, Paula came in and told us that she had been receiving verses from John D. each morning.  She shared with us the verse that he had given to her for that day which was Romans 8:31.  It says “What then shall we say to these things?  If God is for us, who can be against us?”  John D. came into the Bible study that morning and shared with us his family’s scripture which is Psalm 27.   He spoke about going to God in times of fear and trouble and about the protection that God offers to us when we seek Him.  Carol gave each woman in the Bible a Messenger from In Touch Ministries where she works.  The Messenger looks like an  iPod and has thirty-five sermons on it where Dr. Stanley talks about the basics of the Christian faith and how to apply the Christian faith in your daily life.

The construction group started and completed a new project at Helen’s house. She was one of the Seniors that is very special to Denise.  They added a porch to her house so that she would be able to sit outside at night and gaze at the stars.

That evening, the team got in the vans and went up to the mesa.  We took a lot of pictures of each other and of the setting sun.  Rachael, Arnold, and Melarie B. were there when we arrived.  This was Rachael’s first time to go up to the mesa.  John D., Nathan, and Mark W. burned the cross where we had nailed our sins on Sunday morning at the church service.  John encouraged us to be different and to leave this mission trip with a desire to not be conformed to this world.  He told us not to fall into a state of “statisitis.”  He encouraged single people to date someone who would encourage them to grow the way that God wants them to grow.  He also told us to spend more time growing in our relationship with God, and less time watching television and on the internet.  We ended our time on the mesa with prayer for Morgan for a successful upcoming surgery and recovery by laying our hands on Kevin and Bonnie.
