Christian Author’s Four Books Are NOW Available

John Dillard – Author…A Message from John Dillard CPA

After publishing Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s, I was honored to be nominated for the Georgia Author of the Year Award for 2009 by the Georgia Writer’s Association. The publication of A Voice of One earned me the honor of being nominated for Georgia Author of the year for 2010.

Over the years I felt a tugging on my heart to write. For a great while I did not know what my subject was to be about but eventually, the Holy Spirit revealed what he wanted for my life and for me. My first book was a Christian Fiction/Romance/Murder Mystery titled Charleston Dawn and is about romance the way God intended. After I wrote my first book, I felt God prompting me to write Low Country Calling which is an action packed thrill a minute ride as an F-18 Super Hornet fighter pilot bravely faces near disaster over the air and on the desert floor in Iraq. After his narrow escape from death, our pilot is eventually called to be a pastor in the Low Country of Charleston, South Carolina.

One of the talents God alone has blessed me with is one of exhortation. Over the last thirty years of my life, my focus has been predominantly on the New Testament. As I have grown both in my walk and my study of the Bible, I have discovered the richness, body and compassion of the Old Testament. No longer do I see an angry God but how much he loves each and every one of us deeply and whose undeniable commitment to his people is frequently missed amidst many of the Old Testaments tribulations. Thus, I set out to write the Inspiration Series!

After several months of prayer to discover what it is God would have me write, I opened my Bible to the first page of the book of Nehemiah in the Old Testament. There I discovered fresh revelations of which I had never before heard or seen. Discovering God’s grace and compassion, I studied and as God divinely guided my hand, I wrote A Voice of One and how Nehemiah, a layman, steps out to accomplish great things in God’s name. I had my own “Nehemiah type” experience as I was led to change Georgia law requiring restitution for medical and counseling care to be paid by the guilty party to the victims of felony crimes.

Soon afterward, I wrote Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s as God revealed his truth to my heart and mind. Learning new truths from scripture, I discovered God’s hand both in my life and that of others. Studying in the Old Testament the book of Job, we come face to face as we learn God will never forsake us or give us more than we can bear. I also wrote Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s as a result of two prolonged illnesses that included four major surgeries, cancer, diverticulitis, and six weeks of hospital stay.

Though God’s word can never be summed up in any less than the Bible, which is God’s ultimate love story to his people, A Voice of One & Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s are a manual Believers will be able to review again and again each time gaining fresh insight to their walk. In my own life I have learned through careful study and analysis that we all need a spiritual road-map to guide us along life’s way. Through this study and effort, I have learned much of what I feel led to pass along to others as they seek God’s will for their lives.

I believe that God has specifically called me to this place and time and to share His word and love with all that I encounter. I have learned that through diligence, perseverance, and faith that we indeed can do great things in His name. Our task is simply to be obedient and to perform the tasks He set out before us while leaving all the results and all the glory to Christ. John strives to live by his pastor’s words, “We should all dare to accomplish something so great that it is doomed to failure lest Christ be in it!”

No one, no not one of us is given a spirit to timidity, we are to go out and to live our lives as Jesus would boldly stepping out in faith to lead others in love to a closer relationship with Christ. John’s favorite Apostle was Paul who suffered gladly claiming the name of Christ for all of his doings while taking no personal credit all the while fervently spreading the Good News of the Gospel. Paul counted it great joy in all his sufferings and in his weakness he found the perfect strength of our Savior. Paul indeed counted it great gain to die, as he knew that he would join Christ in the heavens and would live with Him forever!

John’s favorite Bible verses are used in his writing and are some of the many of God’s promises that he clings in his own walk with Christ. This effort has been one of love, one to share who God is and can be in your life while telling you of how much God loves you and wants you to accept his calling. God wants to be the true center of your life. All you have to do is believe and to have faith. Reach out for Him in all that you do and Christ will find you in a deep and meaningful way!

“A Voice of One calling: ‘In the desert prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God’” Isaiah 40:3

“Dare to Attempt Something so Great for the Kingdom of God, that it is Doomed to Failure Lest God be in it!”

Christian Author’s book Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s by John Dillard CPA

The walk of a Christian is often fraught with trials and tribulations leading to both defeat and victory. Life’s tragedies, your personal 9/11’s come into our lives seemingly in waves as we face obstacles, which both challenge our confidence and test our faith. Time stood still as the towers fell on that fateful day on September 11, 2001 and lives all over the world were changed forever and the world as we knew it would never be the same.  It is only by the power of an almighty God that we are to persevere.

God shares his wisdom with us so we might overcome the world. By leaning on him in the darkness that befalls us, we are able to rise above circumstances that otherwise might cripple our lives. There will be times when you will feel abandoned by all those about you who choose to criticize rather than support and encourage you. We all need a “safe place to fall,” a family member or a brother or sister in Christ who will comfort us in our time of need. Come along one man’s journey as he loses it all becoming both mentally and physically challenged at every turn discovering God never leaves his side and indeed believes in him even during his darkest times. God has a unique calling on our lives and it is through Overcoming Life’s 9/11’s we are able to become more like him.

Two thousand years before the birth of Jesus Christ there lived an ordinary man who, despite challenges that face him, continues to believe in God. Despite ravenous trials, which arrive in quick succession, Job never deters in his faith choosing to believe God would ultimately redeem him. Living in the land of Uz near the desert land between Damascus and the Euphrates River just northeast of Palestine, Job lives his life in pursuit of God while doing His work and bidding. Our lives need to be built on the rock of our faith in Jesus Christ, as it is our belief in Him, which will enable us to withstand life’s trials. Whether our trials are of our own doing or that of others we can discern how to see God’s hand in every event. Though we may not always know why bad things happen we can always find a triune God standing in the gap along with us. The Bible teaches we are to build our life on Him who was the cornerstone and became the capstone and it is in our reliance on Him alone we are able to pass life’s tests.

Come alongside as we see how one man despite all odds and all those who would turn against him stays true to his faith. Job’s story is one of a man who loses it all, his family, his wealth, and the support of his wife and friends. Yet Job stays true to his faith and to a God who not only restores him, but also gives him much more than he originally lost. Learn how to lean into the pain by seeking God’s will to overcome all that comes your way. God does not promise that our life will be easy but he does say that with him our yoke will be light. Read along as one man, Job, stands, despite the heat of tribulations clinging to his faith when all those he thought he could count on desert him. This story will inspire and motivate you to grow in your relationship with God by leaning on him during life’s fiery trials.

Author John Dillard was nominated for the 2009 Georgia Author of the Year Award after publishing Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s and nominated again for the 2010 Georgia Author of the Year Award after publishing Low Country Calling.

Be Sure Your Corporate Income Tax Returns are Correct Before They Are Filed

Be Sure Your Corporate Income Tax Returns are Correct Before They Are Filed

When running your business it should be clear from an independent observer that all business deductions were incurred for the furtherance of the business.  This includes advertising, administrative duties, overhead and other expenses incurred to produce or provide the product or service to be delivered.  Direct expenses (typically called Cost of Goods Sold) incurred in those efforts will be most obvious, as the absence of this occurrence will result in a product not being delivered.

Frequently some expenses however, do not have the direct correlation to the business on the outside looking in.  Thus, on many issues it is necessary to look at the intent or the reason why an expense was incurred.  For example, the sponsoring of a marketing event is done by business to further its advertising efforts.  By raising awareness of its participants and attendees, business’s often underwrite and support such events to raise name recognition, gain market share and to increase brand loyalty. Often times an experienced CPA can do much to ensure that your past returns are correct and to that end it is prudent to work with a CPA who will review, as a part of their initial startup) you past returns; the below is a sample letter that might be used to ensure that past returns are correct as filed:

In getting started on your returns I had the below questions….

You had advised that the 2010 Corporate Income Tax Return has not yet been done but yet on schedule E of your personal return it indicates that the corporate return has been done. Please review/advise.

I recommend that all of my corporate business be done in the name of the company, yet the below items were listed on your personal return as having been earned personally. You had advised that all business monies earned were done in the corporate name and deposited into the corporate name but yet you had listed on the below personal returns on your Schedule C the below monies.

Part 1: Overcoming Life’s 9/11’s/Job’s Journey is the first of the series and A Voice of One is also fully completed.

Overcoming Life’s 9/11’s/Job’s Journey

The walk of a believer is often fraught with trials and tribulations leading to both defeat and victory.

God has a unique calling on our lives and it is through Overcoming Life’s 9/11’s/Job’s Journey we are able to become more like him.

Approximately two thousand years before the birth of Jesus Christ there lived an ordinary man who, despite challenges that face him, continues to believe in God. This story will inspire and motivate you to grow in your relationship with God by leaning on him during life’s fiery trials.

Part 2: A Voice of One

You alone are uniquely positioned to achieve God’s vision for your life. A God who knows the number of the very hairs on your head has a great purpose only you can accomplish. Learn how one man, Nehemiah, made a difference in the lives of many. Seeking God’s will each and every step of the way, Nehemiah prayerfully seeks to rebuild the walls, which protect the city of Jerusalem and her people.

Nestled deep in the Bible’s Old Testament lived an ordinary man who steps out to accomplish great things in God’s name. Leaving the safety of his position as the cupbearer to the king of Babylon, Nehemiah puts himself into harm’s way exposing himself to enemies who scheme and purpose to see him fail. Overcoming each and every obstacle, Nehemiah’s destiny is to rebuild Jerusalem’s city’s walls that were essential for the nation’s very survival.

The remnant of Israel had been in exile and was beginning to return to the Promised Land only to find the land of their forefathers in disarray. Jerusalem’s city walls lay in ruin exposing her to enemies who would threaten the nation’s very existence. Following the burden God lays on his heart Nehemiah rebuilt the city’s walls in just fifty-two days. Leading the way, Nehemiah asks for assistance from those who can help him the most and prayerfully develops a team unifying them to accomplish a miraculous feat.

Prayerfully, Nehemiah sets out and quietly brings together the whole of the Jewish nation. Finding doomsayers at every turn, Nehemiah overcomes each and every obstacle and builds, brick by brick, the ramparts that will protect the city from her foes. Never deterred in his vision, Nehemiah continues developing a coalition uniting a people giving them leadership and a clear vision and ultimately rededicating the city and its people to God.

Nehemiah never falters and never sways from his mission. God has a special plan for your life and a reward at its end. We serve a God who wants only the best for you and your life. Ask and act boldly to serve and to do great things in God’s name!
Part 3: Taking Christianity Into the World

In the spring of 2004, Atlanta accountant John Dillard established a different kind of CPA firm; one that would bring the principles of Jesus Christ to the practice of Accounting. Since that time, his practice has been growing, as clients who are seeking a Christian accountant who believes in Christ’s principles take advantage of HIS CPA for their business accounting, personal financial planning, and tax preparation needs.

“Having managed my own successful CPA practice in Gwinnett County for over fifteen years, I continued to feel God’s calling on my heart and his desire for me to be more about Him. I had always felt it was my mission to witness to those I came in contact with in both my business and social contacts, but God continued to lay it on my heart that He wanted much more. Although I was willing to share my Christian faith with people to whom I came in contact with, God was calling and he wanted me to be much move overt, but loving, to share the love of God. Having practiced the Golden Rule in my CPA firm for years, God was calling to be the true center of my life and not just a major player.

With my new bride that I had met only a few years ago, we set out on a journey that has led us on mission trips, publishing books, changing Georgia law, and starting a new accounting firm, HIS CPA, P.C. Although we wanted to start the company at the beginning of the year God made it necessary to start the firm immediately as He wanted it done then and not later. To this end we have been faithful and continue to spread the Good News of our faith and Christianity to anyone who would like to hear. Our faith and our lives intersect. Though we still have much to learn to grow to be like Him, we have studied his word and continue to work in Bible studies to share his love with others. My CPA firm is committed to the One who made me and we act on this daily by “Serving HIM by serving You…one tax return at a time”.

Overcoming Life’s 9/11’s…What Readers of Atlanta Christian Author Have to Say

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Christian Speaker John Dillard CPA’s latest book Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s: Job’s Journey

Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s is an honest, down-to-earth guide for anyone going through difficult times. John Dillard challenges you to faithfully lean into Christ as your suffering brings you to seek God’s will and purpose during this time of difficulty. Since everyone suffers at some point in their life, this book is for anyone wanting to cling to Jesus and seek the purpose he has for them.

Jerrie Berry, North Atlanta Mission Board Disaster Relief www.namb.org

John Dillard’s story is going to really bless and inspire you. Thank God you have been inspired by what the Lord Jesus Christ has done in your life. God has pulled you to another level closer to His presence getting aside and quiet before the Lord where God can speak to you. You are much more than a CPA but you are a man of God that was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are more people that need to get involved to step up to the plate and they can make a difference!

WATC TV, Atlanta’s Christian Television Station

In the timely book, Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s John Dillard deals with a very relevant issue: how we should react when suffering comes in the life of a believer. You need this information. You need to assimilate it into your faith walk. You need to get it ingrained in your thinking–so that if and when tribulation knocks on your door–you are ready to overcome.

Mike Shreve, Shreve Ministries www.shreveministries.org & www.TheTrueLight.net

Life, as you’ve probably already discovered, is an interesting little proposition. One of ups, downs, ins, outs and goofy little quirks that we as Christians call trials. Whether you call them trials, tests or emergencies an understanding of the lessons in the book of Job can be an incredible source of encouragement. John Dillard’s book Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s is insightful and encouraging look at overcoming situations that seem impossible.

Robert (Bob) Heath, Founder, Kids for Christ USA www.kfcusa.org

Overcoming Life’s 9/11’s is a wonderful reminder of God’s faithfulness in every situation – not matter what. John Dillard has woven this reality, that God’s faithfulness is in every situation, because he lives this reality daily. What encouragement from someone who willingly admits life doesn’t turn out as planned!

Jan Hinton,
Founder www.epastornetwork.com Leadership, Fellowship, and Support for Christian Ministers

Mr. Dillard is currently writing Overcoming Life’ 9/11s. This book examines Job’s tremendous faith throughout a life of unimaginable loss. This work discusses God’s sovereignty and how God is always in control. Mr. Dillard studies Job’s life and expands his discussion to include God’s presence in our lives in time of suffering and tragedy.

Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s [reminds] the reader that suffering is very much a part of a Christian’s journey towards eternal life. Throughout the book, John Dillard encourages Christians to wholeheartedly put their faith and trust in a mighty loving Savior, seeking His wisdom and guidance while being honed and shaped fit for His purposes here on earth and for a future life in heaven.

Judith Brooker, volunteer for the Editorial and Transcription Team of Torch Trust for the Blind. Torch Trust is a Christian faith mission that publishes Christian books in Braille, large print and on CD for blind and partially sighted people. North Wales, UK.

John Dillard’s book, Overcoming Life’s 9/11′s, is truly a well researched and written book. There are very few books that portray the life and conduct of Job during his trial as well as does this book. As you read this book, if you have any trials that you are facing, it will help you to understand perhaps what is happening in your life. One can follow the insight of Elihu, the youngest of those that had words of advice for Job, and in so doing, will find that life’s 9/11′s in your life are trials that can be overcome.

I highly recommend reading this book! I believe that it will help you in those times when you face your Life’s 9/11′s.

E. Richard Bridgeforth, Sr., Author/Founder, World Prophetic Outreach Ministries
Author of the book: HOUR OF CONSUMMATION: God’s Prophetic Calendar Of Time

“John in a simple but profound way, shows in this book how great God is, that even though we are going through real hard times, God is in control of everything. Reading the way John writes about Job’s situation touched me and inspires me to know God better and to trust and praise Him during tough times”.

Edison Quevedo
Hispanic Minister Campus Church of Christ

“I have read both of your books. You’re a good writer and Bible scholar”.
