Award Winning Alpharetta/Atlanta CPA Reminds Taxpayers That Personal Income Tax Returns are Due April 15, 2010

The initial due date for personal returns is April 15. For returns not filed by that date both the IRS and GA allow for a six month extension. Please be reminded that there are no valid extensions after the October 15 final due date lapses. Please be reminded that an extension to file is not an extension to pay and that you are required by tax law to pay applicable taxes as the monies are earned or you will be subject to additional penalties and interest. When processing personal returns our primary concern is both accuracy and ensuring that ever taxpayer pays only their lowest legal possible tax. Below is a sample letter that we might send to encourage taxpayers to forward all of the necessary documents and information required to properly file the return:

In getting started on your personal return I did not see:

-What you paid in estimated tax payments by date to both the IRS & GA for 2009. For 2010 I suggest we do tax planning (after you give me a net profit before distributions and salary to the owners) so I might advise you to adjust your withholding accordingly. I recommend all of my clients pay all of their taxes via payroll withholding as the IRS and GA will add tax penalties and interest for late payment. For all Business Owners I recommend you use a payroll service to help out with the burdensome administrative and reporting responsibilities of processing payroll.

-I did not see the property taxes/ad valorem on your personal vehicles.

-I need the purchase date of the stock you sold so that I can properly classify the gain between short and long term and capital gain.

Please be reminded that the mileage rate for 2009 is 55 cents per mile. For 2010, the mileage rate is 50 cents per mile. Please turn in an expense report monthly to get reimbursed for these and any other business expenses you might have paid personally. IRS tax rules require you to have a day by day log to support business miles. Please be reminded that extending the filing of a return does not delay the need to pay as you go as both the IRS & GA will bill you for penalties and interest if you do not pay your taxes during the tax year to which they relate.

Duluth GA /Alpharetta/Roswell CPA Offers Sample Support Letter to Raise Financial & Prayer Support for Navajo Family Missions…Taking Christianity Into the World

The model that I believe is having the largest impact in Worldwide and Local Mission Work is to seek the prayer and financial support of others to support in action and deed efforts to support others in being the Hands & Feet of Jesus Christ. Below is a Sample Support Letter one might use as a guide in developing their own:

I hope that all is well with you.  Life has been going so fast here lately with work, church and family.  I have been so blessed by God over the past few years and have grown so much through the ministries of our church, Sugarloaf UMC.  It has been a long journey, but worth every minute.

Part of that journey is stepping out in faith to do some radical things and this summer, July 11-July 17, I have prayerfully committed to go with a group from my church to Pueblo Pintado, NM.  As Matthew 28:19-20 reminds us:  “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

I feel a genuine calling to go and help these people.  In an area that is faced with severe poverty, alcoholism, drug abuse, violent crimes, no jobs and so much more, many of the children are forced to go to work and are not allowed to finish high school or some even middle school.  They have faced many pains over the years as they have desperately tried to hang on to their culture.  They are a warm, loving people who are slow to trust because of the atrocities that have befallen them – but they are so grateful when we come and just share our love and our time with them.

Our mission will be to go and help them through vacation bible school, construction, adult bible study, ministry, sports camps, senior center visits, community nights. to talk about the transforming power of Jesus Christ and so much more.  Just being able to be the hands and feet of Christ is enough to reach these people and show them God’s love.

I hope that you will join me on the journey.  Given the nature of the trip, there are many things that can’t be accomplished without your support.  I would be so honored if you would work alongside me prayerfully and financially.  I so need your prayers during this trip, as does the rest of our mission team.  Please begin to pray that as a team we follow God’s will, for the people of Pueblo Pintado and that when it is time for us to go, we will be prepared for experiences that our eyes and our hearts have never experienced.  Along with prayer, I also need to raise $800 per person to cover my transportation, room and board.

If you are willing to give sacrificially, either with prayer or financial support, please fill out the enclosed card and mail it back in the self-address stamped envelope.  If you chose to give financially, please make your checks out to Sugarloaf UMC.

I am so excited to be a part of this team and I thank you for your support and for taking this journey with me.

I definitely remember our meeting on the reservation in the rain at Whithorse as we enjoyed drops of joy/rain from heaven…

We are planning on being there for a week on July 10th.

We are looking for ways to bring the community together and believe that perhaps by our joint service on the same week that we might have the impetus to spread revival throughout the reservation.

We would welcome partnering with you to:

-Have VBS at the High School

-Enjoy a community night at the Pintado Senior Center on the 11th.

-Coordinate construction projects.

-Join us as we rebuild a VW while talking about how the conforming power of Christ changes our lives. At the end of our stay there we are looking to see who God will have use give the car to.

-Community night that Wednesday including a band, sports, bingo and a fair.

-Adult Bible Study.

-Sports Camp.

-A night up on the Mesa Thursday night praising and worshiping God.

I believe God is poising us to reach the community more than ever before and I believe it is through our joint efforts that God will be most favored.

2009 Simple IRA Plans…Planning for a Better Retirement

A Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees, a SIMPLE IRA plan is well suited for smaller employers. A company can select his plan if it has as little as one employee up to one hundred. A SIMPLE IRA is a relatively new entrant into tax law, and were established so small businesses could offer substantive benefits to their staff without the burdens of a SPD/Originating Plan Document to set up a plan, and the “top heavy” testing which a 401K requires. All monies taken out of an employee’s paycheck and forwarded to a retirement account of any type are immediately vested and owned by the employee. However, they are subject to the tax law and guidelines of any established plans and their contracted documents. SIMPLE IRA’s have to be set up by October 1st of this year in order for them to be effective for 2009. Employees can set aside out of their payroll $11,500 in 2009. This limit is indexed and is updated periodically for inflation. For those over fifty years of age there is a “catch-up” provision which allows for an additional $2500 to be withheld each year. The company then as a required matching which ranges from two to three percent so employees also receive the result of this benefit.
