<p>Navajo Family Missions: May God Bless Each and Every One of You, </p>
<p>You each poured out your hearts, souls and bodies to serve our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, the Navajo. On behalf of the Kingdom of God, we thank and praise you for your efforts and your zeal. Whether you served in VBS, Sports, Construction, Service, Leadership, Bugs4Christ, Women&#8217;s Bible Study, Kitchen or at the Senior Center you served with compassion and zeal that will never be forgotten by God, by the Navajo, or by us. </p>
<h2>John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.  </h2>
<p>We are all called by Christ to serve foremost with love. Your openness and willingness to step out of &#8220;your box&#8221; is what makes this family mission trip special.</p>
<p>Though there were 86 of us with many varied personalities, we all served with One Voice and with a message of Peace &amp; Love. </p>
<p>Throughout it all we overcame obstacles, grew together as a church family and represented well the body of Christ spoken about in the New Testament. Though we are all gifted with different talents, we all pulled together to do something miraculous in the desert of New Mexico. </p>
<p>Though it will be impossible to list all of the God moments on this trip, I would be remiss if I did not list a few: </p>
<p>-The meetings of hard work and preparation as we readied our hearts and souls for the journey. </p>
<p>-Our Point Teams arriving early and their hard work to get ready so that we all might be ready when we arrived. </p>
<p>-Eddie for pulling the trailer and all of our needed supplies and the Bugs4Christ for pulling a VW for our restoration services, as we were all conformed to the very image of Christ. </p>
<p>-The large turnout we enjoyed in our Sunday cookout in Downtown Pueblo Pintado. </p>
<p>-The coming together of our teams whose joint service made a difference in the lives of many. </p>
<p>-Our music team which lead us closer to God through both their leadership and joint service. </p>
<p>-The Navajo joining us in working on our Construction efforts. </p>
<p>-The exploring of locals there in Pueblo Pintado to continue in leading Bible study groups there and to witness, share and love on the Navajo people. </p>
<p>-Our flexibility as a team to fulfill our destiny rather than to focus on a plan. </p>
<p>-Our Tuesday night as we tied the knots on the prayer squares that were made into a rug. </p>
<p>-The many lives that were changed forever by the visit to the Three Sisters and their quiet dignity. </p>
<p>-The nailing of our sins, past regrets and items that were holding us back in our lives so that we might leave them at the foot of the cross. </p>
<p>-The sunrise service we had on Sunday a.m. as we listened as Warren played the bagpipes and Amazing Grace. </p>
<p>-The many tears that were shared, the many fears that were conquered and the incredible amounts of joy that were shared. </p>
<p>-I will never forget watching as the Bugs4Christ team rebuilt the VW all the while, offering object lessons of how we are all restored to the likeness of Christ through hard work, effort, repentance and love. </p>
<p>-The joy of Community Night as we played bingo, games and we presented the VW to a surprised Ben. </p>
<p>-The night on the Mesa, starting with the beautiful sound of bagpipes, our words of worship, the literal and symbolic burning of our past transgressions and sins and the communion with God by our sharing of the Lord&#8217;s Supper. </p>
<p>-The Ceremony to Acknowledge Melarie as our God-Daughter. </p>
<p>-The placing on a cross as a minder to both the Navajo and to us, that we should never forget who we are in Him and who we are to each other. </p>
<p>-Friday night Sharing at the Pool. </p>
<p>-Arnold Billie&#8217;s many encouraging words. </p>
<p>I invite you to live the whole of our life in attempting something so great for the kingdom of God, that it is doomed to failure, lest Christ be in it. </p>
<p>We are not on this road of life alone. We are on it together. I will never forget the great things that were done. We must all never forget. Our lives will be forever intertwined with the hearts of the Navajo and we commit to seeing that we all take Christ with us wherever we go. </p>
<p>When Believers united as you did, the walls of fear and uncertainty came tumbling down as love reigns supreme. As you return to our work days and back home, we must all remember what you did on this trip as the very hands and feet of Jesus Christ. </p>
<p>As my wife spoke on Friday night, we must all keep the fires of passion for our Savior burning&#8230;to keep the spark alive and to fan the love that burns within us all. Lean not on your own understanding but seek God, His Word and His Will in all that you do. In so doing you will Glorify our Most High God and add to this great thing you have already done. Live as the song encourages&#8230;&#8221;Jesus Take the Wheel&#8221; so that God can lead you to yet higher heights. </p>
<p>I invite you if there is any pain or sin, hiding out in your life, that you lay it at the foot of the cross and that you recall that if Christ is to increase, that we must decrease. </p>
<p>Though Tami and I have been allowed to serve as leaders on this trip, we see ourselves more as caretakers of the great gift of your lives, glory and mission of this past week. Our goal continues to be the same. To Glorify God and to Help You Fulfill Your God Given Destiny. </p>
<p>I invite you to take what you have seen and heard this past week and make it yours and that your lives be one that is &#8220;mission filled.&#8221; </p>
<p>We will never forget the great things you have done and that we are here to walk alongside you 24/7 in this journey called life. </p>
<p>Seek God in all that you do and look to lead your family to be ever more like Christ Jesus. </p>
<p>It is easy to serve alongside Pueblo Pintado Warriors such as you and We Thank You For Your Great Service. </p>
<p>Expect Great Things!</p>

<p>We are still heavily involved in Missions while Serving our Native Americans the Navajo on the desert of New Mexico. One of the cooler things we are doing this year is that we are looking to mentor young men and women in their walk with Christ, while teaching them how to restore Volkswagen Beetles. <p>As we get ready for the trip it is revealed to many who go on the trip that our Mission is planned at the &#8220;very base&#8221; level by those who are on the trip. We do missions the way Jesus did. Like Jesus did, by having John the Baptist go before Him, we have had others who have done before us to ready the mission field for our efforts, But like Jesus, we do not have a &#8220;point team&#8221; on the ground to go ahead of us to prepare the way. I believe that this gives us a chance to become more like Jesus as we are conformed to the very image of Christ as we ready and plan for the journey ahead. The below is a sample letter we might get from a new member to our Family Mission Team who is going for the first time learning about the details of the work and journey ahead.</p>
<p>Thanks for sending this out!  It was fantastic to see the people of Pueblo we will be helping out, and I can’t wait to go.  Hopefully my daughter will get as much out of it as I did in Costa Rica.  After viewing the photos, I did however realize one thing that honestly, I am quite embarrassed to admit.  For the missionary trip to Costa Rica, the entire fund-raising was centered on getting the funds together to get the missionaries down to help out.  All materials required at the location, were funded through a local charity.  So your contribution as a missionary was entirely time and work at the location.  </p>
<p>I don’t know why this didn’t occur to me until I saw the photos, but I now realize that the funds needed for the materials in Pueblo Pintado are actually be raised solely by our group, and not in addition to materials that is somehow going to magically show up somehow!  I know that sounds retarded, but when you’re thinking time and work at the location, and still paddling to get my family back on a sound financial footing, you sometimes miss the forest for the trees!  I am not really where I need to be to give the fund raising and front-end of the trip the attention it deserves.  Please don’t take this as disinterest in the group, or the trip, or the people of Pueblo Pintado.  I am really looking forward to going, and doing whatever I can help out while I am there. God bless you and your hard work in readying for our trip.</p>
<p>Just as Jesus came, knowing the journey would not be easy, so should we seek to serve our Creator with all the strength of our heart, soul and mind or it is in our doing that we morph the most to become like Him. I find the more that I lay down the things of the world and seek His will for my life that it just keeps getting better and better.</p>

<p>This is the Postscript of the Navajo Family Mission Series of our Weekly Family Trip To Serve the Navajo People of Pueblo Pintado. It is about sixty people who for an entire week lay down their jobs, vacations and responsibilities to be the very hands and feet of Christ. This is their story. Jesus often withdrew to the solitude of the desert to pray and be strengthened. <p><em>Postscript:</em><em> </em></p>
<p>It was very special to have Beth and Woody with us on this trip this year.  They have planted many seeds in the lives of the Navajo people, and the love and the wonderful responses that we have received over the past two years have resulted from the diligent work and prayers poured from their hearts for the Navajo people ten years before we started coming.  </p>
<p>It was also very special to have Tami M. and Kevin on the trip as part of the staff from the church.  They made certain that everything went smoothly for us on our airplane trip to and from the reservation when we ran into situations that were unplanned like cancelled flights and delayed flights.  As team members, we did not have to worry about making plans.  They stepped in and took care of everything. They just knew what to do without anyone having to ask.  </p>
<p>In addition, Tami and John D. are the most awesome leaders.  Tami D. is blessed with administrative skills that allow her to be able to discern where each person will serve the best.  She is very organized, and yet, she has the ability to know when there is a need to change plans on the spur of the moment.  John D. was our spiritual leader on this trip, and his spiritual teaching was invaluable in showing us how to grow spiritually in our mission experience both on the trip as well and before and after the trip.  He also has a special way of making a crisis <em>like </em>the situation with possibly not being able to have vans an open door to minister to others.<em>  </em>   </p>
<p> </p>
<p> Finally, this trip was put together to bring glory to our God and our Savior Jesus Christ by using us as vessels to manifest His love to the Pueblo Pintado people.  When writing this journal, Carol noticed that God was truly faithful to His Word.  There are so many stories on this trip about how God’s Word became real in the lives of the team members.  Carol’s prayer is that whenever you feel doubt in your heart, you will pull out this journal and read these experiences of people that you know and that they will encourage you to believe God that He will be faithful to stick by you during all the challenging circumstances of your life.  </p>
<p>This mission trip has not ended here.  It has become a part of the lives of the team members.  As of the time of the trip, adults and kids have been writing and e-mailing to each other.  Before Morgan’s surgery, members of the team gathered for a time of praise and worship.  Morgan made a successful recovery from surgery and is back in church worshipping and helping her dad encourage people to get involved in his activities at the church.   Also, members of the team have gone on a trip tubing down the river in Helen, Georgia.  Three of the ladies in the Women’s Bible study have come and visited.  Roughly forty members of the team and their families got together to spend time with these ladies at a get-together at Nathan and Dawn’s home.  This team has become a family that shares a common passion to love the Navajo people and a desire to see them realize God’s perfect plans for their lives.    </p>
<p> Prologue: </p>
<p>When Carol was preparing mentally for this mission trip to Pueblo Pint ado, Brandon Heath’s song  Give Me Your Eyes was being played many times on the radio station that she was listening to.  Her prayers for our mission trip to Pueblo Pintado were that we would see things from God’s perspective and that we would be totally yielded to the power of His Holy Spirit.  She believes that God sometimes impresses the words of a song on her mind to keep her focused on what He wants to be accomplished through the people around her and that the timing of this song being played over and over when she was listening to the radio was no coincidence.  God was telling her that if we would give Him our eyes, our love, our arms, and our hearts, He would reveal to us what we needed to see.  May God bless you as you read these remembrances of the 2009 Pueblo Pintado Mission trip.    </p>
<h5>The Great Commission</h5>
<p>Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, &#8220;All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.&#8221; Matthew 28:16-20 </p>

It is about how we as ordinary people can accomplish great things in God&#8217;s name. Senator Unterman was instrumental in the process of passing the Crime Victims Act of 2008 to protect Georgia&#8217;s children. <p>Secondly, I would welcome taking to your group about our Annual Family Mission Trip to serve the Navajo people in Pueblo Pintado. Though our group is multifaceted we predominantly focus our energy and efforts on the youth. I would welcome coming in and talking to your group as we are also looking for other churches and groups to partner with. Below is a sample of the follow piece I send to invite other church and civic groups to Move God&#8217;s Message Forward. </p>

<p><strong>I invite you to pray before you watch, that you watch with a open heart, and then that you listen to the Lion of Judah, Our God, speaking to your heart. Perhaps your family, your church, your Bible study group might join our Family Missions Work to the Navajo as we call down the power of Almighty God as we Worship, Grow and Serve Jesus Christ. <p><strong>We are led to take Christ to the Navajo Nation (approximately the size of West Virginia). We are looking to take our model of service to the Navajo in Pueblo Pintado by partnering with churches, Bible Study Groups, Rotary, Chambers of Commerce and Kiwanis and then branching out to other locations on the reservation. We are looking for groups throughout America to speak to with the stated goal of: </strong><strong>  </strong></p>
<p><strong>-Encouraging Individual Family Involvement of Members of Your Group. </strong></p>
<p><strong>-Introductions to other Civic and Bible Study Groups, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Concerned Citizens and Faith Based Group. </strong></p>
<p><strong>-The prompting of the Holy Spirit (at one of our last Kiwanis Groups one of the men decided to staff the local High School with all of the football equipment they need to start a team. </strong><strong>  </strong></p>

<p>This is Day 8 of the Navajo Family Mission Series of our Weekly Family Trip To Serve the Navajo People of Pueblo Pintado. It is about sixty people who for an entire week lay down their jobs, vacations and responsibilities to be the very hands and feet of Christ. This is their story. Jesus often withdrew to the solitude of the desert to pray and be strengthened. <p>&#8220;Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.&#8221; Philippians 4:8-9 </p>
<p>Day 8 – Saturday – July 17, 2009 – Going Home </p>
<p>This was a day of rest for the team members.  Some of the team spent time in Albuquerque  while others went on ahead to the airport.  Everyone did a little shopping and had a good meal.  We boarded the airplane around 5:45 p.m. Mountain time and had a layover in Dallas before getting the airplane again at 10:00 p.m. Central time for our flight home.  Carol had to admit that she was ready to go home as she had been developing a cold the entire day sitting in the airport.  She tried to sleep on the flight back to Atlanta, but sleep would not come. She was sitting at a window seat and opened her eyes to stare at the night sky.  She was so amazed to see the Big Dipper outside her airplane window.  She just stared at it in awe.  She knew that this was God showing her that wherever He was, she was home.  You see, a lot of evenings,  Carol will walk outside her home and find the Big Dipper.  She even saw the Big Dipper when she was at Pueblo Pintado  walking back to her house with Elizabeth E. one evening.  Whenever she is obedient to be where God wants her to be, she is at home with God in her sanctuary (this is what she calls her home).  After the trip, Carol related seeing the Big Dipper to her dad and other friends who have been and are still world travelers, and all of them have said that they have never seen anything like this on any of the flights that they have been on.  </p>
<p>The team arrived in Atlanta around 1:30 a.m. and were greeted home by some of our good friends – Hal, Ken, Marleeta, Alex, and Trey.  It was a great ending to our trip to get one last hug before heading to our homes.        </p>
