Are you Looking For your Grow Group to Learn To be a Disciple?
I believe our group and those we will be sharing this with are equipped with a strong enough understanding of the biblical definition of what being a disciple is and that we are being commanded to become disciples and a strong measure of faith to want to become a disciple.
I like the idea of simplicity and playing off of who the 12 disciples were and their respective skill sets and un-comfortablity with the task at hand
Essentially, I think this is a kind of Sales 101 class about equipping them with a clear understanding in the skill sets needed to effectively communicate with others . Folks will need to have willingness to be open and honest with group about comfort level of sharing weaknesses and strengths.
This is not about being a mamby pampy disciple ( thought you might appreciate that) While not a grueling discipleship class
Three Fears That Hold us Back.
Seven Strengths to Disciple From
Phase One
A.) Three Fears That Hold us Back.
Seven Strengths to Disciple From
1.) Identify/Discuss the three fears
How they can affect us
How they apply to each of us individually and the importance of knowing that
2.) Seven Strengths to Disciple From
B.)Getting started
1.)Specifics of exactly what will we be asking our disciples to do ( non biblical approach )
Includes action items and a timeline of our objectives. I also believe it includes a checklist of sorts for keeping track of steps we have accomplished
2.)Identify the necessary skill sets and a combination thereof for individuals to become proficient at
Fit in aspect of that our approach in the field may be done in teams of two at first ( great , I am going door to door as a Modern Day Christian)
3.) What the disciple is now- Our disciples must be teachable and able to teach others
Identify areas of strength and giftedness. Identify areas of weakness Make a plan to use their strengths and develop in their areas of weakness. Establish a benchmark
4.) Develop and share top three or four catch phrases to be rehearsed, customized and used in every day life as well as a condensed reference source of bible verses, etc
5.) Field Trip!
Teams of two – On Monday night at 6:30 meet at local businesses, ie: Publix, Dollar Store etc
Love on the people we come in contact with
Back to Home Base to share and laugh at each other
* need to develop material that will help us evaluate and build on our pre determined weaknesses and strengths,
* Also need to have a process to develop our “course” as we go
6.) Assessment point – where is our bench mark now, how close are we to accomplishing goals, repeat process, add new dimensions etc.
