Atlanta/Duluth GA  CPA Addressing Atlanta Tax Representation Issues for Decades… The IRS/Tax Representation Series

This is an article of the IRS & Tax Representation Series. Tax Representation is not one where you can just “settle for pennies on the dollar.” There is not a magic panacea or magic pill that one can take to just make their tax problem go away. Below is a recent letter received from a client that followed our advice perfectly and found satisfaction with the final outcome:

I did receive the release of Levy in the mail this afternoon and I am faxing a copy to HR.  She stated she would hold off sending the IRS payment from my check for a couple of days and I anticipate that they will receive it in the mail by tomorrow.  So it looks like all is clear for now.  I am ok with the penalty…all in all it has all worked out so much better than I expected.  Thank you for taking on my case and for what I consider a very successful outcome.  What an enormous relief to have all this behind me and not looming over my head year after year.  I am so thankful to God for finding your website and not getting tangled up with all the other “solutions to my tax problems” that were coming my way.  It made a really complicated matter simple and it was so wonderful to do business with someone with integrity in a Christ centered business.  Thank you again!

There are many options to deal with open taxes and to address with the IRS any open monies due. These articles will do much to enlighten and enable you to satisfactorily address any open tax issue monies. Working with a seasoned and qualified CPA who is well versed in tax matters should always be your best and first choice.

Atlanta CPA Advises on What to Do When Your Salary & Wages Are Garnished

For the 2009 Personal Income Tax Return I need to know how much of the actual tax of $4000 that was due from the 2008 Georgia State Income Tax Return that you paid in 2008 (not counting penalties and interest) as the taxes are an itemized expense on your personal return.

Regarding the garnishment that you received, if you would like my help with it I need a copy so that I might prepare and forward you a power of attorney for signature.

In the interim tax law requires you to obey the terms and conditions of the levy including the withholding from your wages and remitting of monies over to the IRS.

If we want to get the garnishment stopped we need to look at two options with the first being the one I would recommend.

Paying the Tax & Interest in Full While Requesting Penalty Abatement

This is the option we have discussed over the last year to pay your outstanding personal taxes due the IRS. By paying the tax and interest in full, while requesting penalty abatement, we have the best and biggest opportunity to address you open tax monies with the least open cost. If at all possible, I suggest we do this ASAP.

Installment Agreements

The IRS will work with taxpayers to pay the monies owed over time. This option requires the taxpayer to file a form requesting that a specified amount be paid monthly over time. The IRS then has to accept the plan prior to it becoming effective. Though this is a practical way to address a larger balance over time it does not stop the assessment of penalties and interest which will continue to accrue until all monies are paid in full. Thus, it is most advantageous to consider procuring the funds from other sources as these finance/carrying charges are usually much less than that of the Internal Revenue Service.
