Norcross/Tucker CPA on Taking Christianity Into the World…Being the Hands & Feet of Jesus Christ: WWJD

Serving on a Family Mission Trip

Having served on a Family Mission Trip for six years I have watched families of one and families of many call on the power of Christ to change and redeem the lives of those we serve with and those we serve.

Just this past year we have had three members from the Reservation visit here, been asked to be the Godparents of one of those we served, added adult Bible Study, deepened relationships with the seniors and watched God do much to bless our efforts both while we are there and since.

We continue to have almost daily contact with the reservation. We often meet sometimes as many as three to four times a week with members of our team to cement our love of each other, to encourage our faith in God, and to develop strategies how we can best witness to each other and to the Navajo. Just this past week we have met several times with others and the predominant thoughts of our talks are our journey on the reservation. Also this past week to discuss the best way/options we could reach the Navajo youth as well as the adult men and women on the reservation.

This year we plan to have a 5 p.m. dinner on the reservation at the Senior Center to meet on their turf, to cook out, to fellowship, to present the Volkswagen we are going to rebuild and to present God’s word. John of Bugs 4 Christ has been a Youth Minister and adds much depth and spiritual insight to ways that we plan to reach out and to touch the lives of those we serve and those we serve with.

One of our team members recently suggested and we are going a theme that “He (God) Knows My Name.” By reminding all on the reservation that the mighty God of the universe knows who each and every one of them are, giving a shirt along with these words and a Navajo style cross, we will do much to make God real in the lives of many who are not blessed to attend a church of any type.

We have also discussed and would like to have a 3 Day Fast as we prepare for our mission. We would like to invite churches at large to join all people going on missions and would like to invite all as we prepare our minds, hearts and souls as we prepare to be the very hands and feet of Christ.

As this is a family trip for us we pour our entire hearts and soul into this trip striving to do all that we might to make it what God would have it to be. As the demands of a larger and larger group have encouraged us to seek out the godly, wise and most treasured help of our dearest friends to assist us in leading on this trip. Their insight and assistance has done much to bolster our faith, generate energy and to strive to do all that we might not to limit what God might want to do in the lives of others. I believe what makes this group unique is the people of God, which is the lifeblood of our trip who lay the world aside and focus on what God would have them do.

I believe that the church model that I see that meets the most success is when mission members  raise their own support (via support letters) that this would be an advantage to others to Take Christianity Into the World as all seek to tell friends, family and others about what we are doing in His name.

This trip has grown from the first year to when almost fifteen of us went to almost five times that number going this year. I feel that as long as God calls that I should and can do all that I might to make sure that all “find a seat at the table.”

We have found that in serving the Lost, the Last and the Least that God’s redeeming power is poured out again and again into the lives of those who have served. I am committed to doing whatever I need to do to ensure that all that are called, serve.

I believe that the Navajo people and more specifically the people of Pueblo Pintado are ready for a revival in God’s word that is to be sparked by us. I believe that in so doing that we will all be more of what God wants us to be, both there, and in our daily lives. For it was from small groups that Jesus poured his life into and from which we are all enjoying still the fruits of his efforts. For whether we go to two locations for two weeks in New Mexico, I believe that all that are called should serve.

I challenge you today to do what you might in your church, your community, your school and your work place to see what you can do to be a light of the gospel and to join us as we are Taking Christianity Into the World.

To get a feel for our work on the Mission Field in Pueblo Pintado NM might I invite you to watch our video at http://bit.ly/QS0V9 If you listen and watch with an open heart, it will change your world. To gain a glimpse of our vision visit or if your church wants to get involved with our work visit   http://www.hiscpa.com/blog/2009/07/30/casting-a-vision-navajo-family-missions-taking-christianity-into-the-world/

We feel led to take Christ to the Navajo Nation (approximately the size of West Virginia). We are looking to take our model of service to the Navajo in Pueblo Pintado by partnering with churches, Bible Study Groups, Rotary, Chambers of Commerce and Kiwanis and then branching out to other locations on the reservation.

CPA Serving Tucker/Norcross/Sandy Springs Presents Pastor 7’s Heart…Serving the Homeless of Atlanta…Taking Christianity Into the World

I would like to start this week’s email with a question…..  If you had to choose would you rather be Samson or Samuel?? “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon , and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets. ” Hebrews 11:32

Samson and Samuel were both very much the same and very different. Both men were judges, anointed of God to lead Israel. Both took the vow of the Nazarite. Both fought the Philistines. Both men are included in Hebrews 11 and in God’s Hall of Fame. Samson, a man of incredible physical strength, was impetuous, carnal, lustful, driven by his appetites.  In his hunger for vengeance he plead with God to destroy not only the philistines, but also his own life. By way of contrast, Samuel, a man of incredible spiritual strength, was content to let God fight his battles for him. A man powerful in the word of prayer, he lead Israel back from the worship of dead idols to the living God. Samson’s confidence was in what God had given him; Samuel’s confidence was in what God could do through him.

In the flesh, Samson appears more attractive to many men. Alive, confident, he boldly sought to do great things for God. On the other hand Samuel was more quiet, somewhat reclusive, available as a channel for whatever God wanted to do. Although God called Samson great, those who emulate him have a problem. If God had not placed him in his Hall of fame, Samson’s carnal lifestyle would make you wonder if he was saved. Thus, he who follows Samson’s example must wait until the judgment for affirmation; those who know and love him cannot affirm his carnality. You have a better model in Samuel.

We are so in awe with God. All permits and contracts are signed and construction started today. I’m going to just keep allowing God to show how miraculous he is in all our lives. God is always right on time. I would like to say thank you for all your prayers, love , and support that is given.  May many blessings be poured out like a river upon your lives. God bless.

GO JESUS GO JESUS GO!  LOVE,  Pastor 7

Pastor 7 with 7 Bridges to Recovery is doing great things to Feed the Homeless of Atlanta while spreading the word of God. I suggest you go down and see what he is doing on the weekends to take the message to the streets of Atlanta. I believe he would be a great speaker to the whole congregation and Discipleship Groups as people are looking for opportunities to get real with their faith by being the very Hands and Feet of Jesus Christ.    You can read about his Ministry at http://www.7bridgestorecovery.org/home_page.html   We are actively involved in going and supporting Pastor 7 and the great work he is doing to Serve the Lost, the Last & the Least.

At His CPA PC you will never be just a client. We believe in practicing the Golden Rule at every step of the way. Though at times this takes much more time than just being “fair” as the world sees it, it is WWJD (What Jesus Would Do). Below is a sample note we have received:

Wow John, I’m impressed….an email letting me know you remember me….which may or may not be good considering my history. well and up to date note.  My husband and I are divorced and he has 100% controlling interest in the company he literally stole from me. no hard feeling though, he incurred all the debt and ran the books into the ground and now he has to dig himself out.  I, in the meantime, have started a new job. I have many IRS  issues that I need to tackle but will need to do that one bite at a time….too much at once and I may choke!!!! yes, would like your assistance with simple stuff as well as getting me back in the good graces with the IRS…..but as of now, I don’t think they know that I’m on the right side as I have NEVER received anything from them. do you have any “friends” on the inside? I don’t want to be illegal but I also don’t want to draw attention to myself.

Have a great day and enjoy the snow…hopefully you get some.

Family Missions to the Navajo: Franchising Opportunities Throughout the Reservation…Taking Christianity Into the World

God has put on my heart through my business background is that we have created and are still tweaking ( I think adding the possibility of a week of youth “camp” is a great idea) an excellent template for not only a family mission trip to the Navajo but a family mission trip in general.  I think that part of what we are being called to do is to  put that template out there for others to utilize and to supply whatever level of support for that template that the groups require.

We have an excellent opportunity to test that with the other areas of the Navajo reservation that are not currently being served.  To catch a glimpse of our vision for serving the Navajo and to see how churches throughout America can participate visit http://www.hiscpa.com/blog/2009/07/30/casting-a-vision-navajo-family-missions-taking-christianity-into-the-world/

Serving God by Fulfilling the Great Commission…Taking Christianity Into the World

I have a favor to ask and hope you will prayerfully consider it.  As you know, planning for the Pueblo Pintado mission trip to serve our Native Americans, the Navajo, begins the day we arrive back home from being there and it’s time to start some serious planning.  There has been a lot of talk about doing two weeks this year and a lot of ideas are coming forward that need some discussion, discernment and consideration.  To get the entire team together and discuss this would not be fruitful because we are all so passionate about it and all have thoughts and opinions (and they all are valuable) that we want to share.  So, we are looking at the possibility of forming a “board” if you will, of people who have been there many, many times before, people who have been a few years and people who served their first year this past summer.  This would be a group of people who could take the ideas that are brought forward, discuss them, look at the positives and negatives and decide whether or not to pursue whatever it is.  We need open minds, open hearts, a passion for the Navajo culture, a passion for this trip and a willingness to think outside the box.  By being part of this “board”, you would not be committed to go on the trip next year – we would love it if you would – but you are not committed.  We just value your opinion, think that you could offer great insight and seem to have a passion not just for Pueblo Pintado but for missions as a whole.

To “catch the wave” and to see if you and your church is being called to serve on a mission trip here in the U.S, I invite you to pray to seek God’s will and to review our work and efforts there by visiting Navajo Family Missions on our blog at   http://www.hiscpa.com/blog/   and our vision at http://www.hiscpa.com/blog/2009/07/30/casting-a-vision-navajo-family-missions-taking-christianity-into-the-world/ I write this to you today predominantly to encourage you to serve God, wherever He has you and to not wait to see what God’s will is for you and your life.

Serving Locally While Acting Globally: Walking the Walk…Navajo Family Missions Series Day 6… Taking Christianity Into the World

This is Day 6 of the Navajo Family Mission Series of our Weekly Family Trip To Serve the Navajo People of Pueblo Pintado. It is about sixty people who for an entire week lay down their jobs, vacations and responsibilities to be the very hands and feet of Christ. This is their story. Jesus often withdrew to the solitude of the desert to pray and be strengthened. Come along side us and see the changes of  hearts, passions and lives as God joins us on our journey To catch a further look at our vision for our work there visit http://www.hiscpa.com/blog/2009/07/30/casting-a-vision-navajo-family-missions-taking-christianity-into-the-world/  If you and your church are encouraged by our journey, join us as we look to revival for the Navajo People, by taking Christianity Into the World

Day 6 – July 15, 2009 – Thursday – Jesus Gives Us The Power to Live Forever.

Bible Verse:  John 14:19 says “Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see Me.  Because I live, you will also live.”

Susan shared that Stoney and Hayden drew the three crosses for the drama session and did a great job.  The kids liked the visual of being able to see their sins moving from the criminals to Jesus where He forgave their sins.  The song for the day was Come to Jesus.  She thought that the kids would have a hard time learning this song, but they were all able to pick up the words and the sign language.  For Susan, this was an awesome moment.

Also, Susan noted that the kids continued to focus on the meaning of the Bible verses for the day and to gain some understanding of how to apply them in their lives.

At the closing, Leigh E. came in with water bottles and sprayed everyone to set the mood for the end of the day – Water Day!!  One of the older girls that Susan had met on the van ride home the day before trusted her to hold her bag while she joined her younger siblings in the fun.  She said that when the girl returned for her bag, she smiled.  For Susan, this was a special connection that showed a special trust.

At the Women’s Bible Study, Paula came in and told us that she had been receiving verses from John D. each morning.  She shared with us the verse that he had given to her for that day which was Romans 8:31.  It says “What then shall we say to these things?  If God is for us, who can be against us?”  John D. came into the Bible study that morning and shared with us his family’s scripture which is Psalm 27.   He spoke about going to God in times of fear and trouble and about the protection that God offers to us when we seek Him.  Carol gave each woman in the Bible a Messenger from In Touch Ministries where she works.  The Messenger looks like an  iPod and has thirty-five sermons on it where Dr. Stanley talks about the basics of the Christian faith and how to apply the Christian faith in your daily life.

The construction group started and completed a new project at Helen’s house. She was one of the Seniors that is very special to Denise.  They added a porch to her house so that she would be able to sit outside at night and gaze at the stars.

That evening, the team got in the vans and went up to the mesa.  We took a lot of pictures of each other and of the setting sun.  Rachael, Arnold, and Melarie B. were there when we arrived.  This was Rachael’s first time to go up to the mesa.  John D., Nathan, and Mark W. burned the cross where we had nailed our sins on Sunday morning at the church service.  John encouraged us to be different and to leave this mission trip with a desire to not be conformed to this world.  He told us not to fall into a state of “statisitis.”  He encouraged single people to date someone who would encourage them to grow the way that God wants them to grow.  He also told us to spend more time growing in our relationship with God, and less time watching television and on the internet.  We ended our time on the mesa with prayer for Morgan for a successful upcoming surgery and recovery by laying our hands on Kevin and Bonnie.

Determining Where God is Seeking You to Serve…Taking Christianity Into the World

Christian Author John Dillard CPA  is set to Speak at several Upcoming Kiwanis Meetings in Gwinnett. I write this today not to invite you to the meeting, though all are invited to RSVP to the local Kiwanis office and to attend. However my purpose to this notice is to encourage you to “step out of the box” and listen to that still small voice, the Lion of Judah, as God calls you to higher heights, greater destinations and excellence in service. I have committed to my life to see what I might do to serve all those whom I come in contact with. Though I do need to keep my life in balance, to work,  to provide for my family and to take care of myself, I believe Christ is calling us all to truly live for him. Though church attendance is important as our local congregations where we worship should be an equipping station where we learn God’s word and draw strength from our fellow Christian brothers and sisters. But it is out in the world, where we live, work, and plan that God wants us to live out our faith acting on our love for Him, by our compassion for others. Join me as we seek to Take Christianity Into the World.

Putting Christ Back Into Christianity…Navajo Family Missions Series Day 3… Taking Christianity Into the World

This is Day 3 of the Navajo Family Mission Series of our Weekly Family Trip To Serve the Navajo People of Pueblo Pintado.

Day 3 – July 13, 2009 – Monday – Jesus Gives Us The Power to Be Thankful

Power Verse:  Colossians 3:15 “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.  And be thankful.”

Tami D. and Grace started the day for the kids by painting their faces.  They let them pick out their favorite colors.

Elizabeth T. was a crew leader for the 3rd graders.  They went to arts and crafts first where they made tie-dyed shirts using marble, sharpies, and alcohol.  They skipped a section and doubled up with the 2nd graders for outside games with Pam.  They played 3 games – one where the girls threw two sponges at the boys and then, they swapped places.  Then, they did three-legged races with the boys against the girls and hula hoop races.  The snack this day was cookies.  Each group ate the snack made by the group before them, and then, made the snack for the next group.  There were some cookies left over that they gave to the women in the Women’s Bible Study.  Lunch was then served.  After lunch, the 3rd graders went to drama where Susan used sign language to help the kids learn the Bible verse.  She talked about being thankful for what you have.  Then, she got the kids engaged in a drama of the 10 lepers bundled up in a group.  Jesus heals them and they are let loose.  At the closing, Susan had a competition to see who could say the Bible verse the loudest.  She ended the day with the song Forever.

Lynn who led Cheddars shared that in the very first rotation for the day, all of the girls came up to her and gave her a huge hug before leaving the class.  She was so amazed by the openness of the girls to giving affection because of her former experiences with the native cultures.  Her husband is Cherokee, and he was raised on a reservation in Oklahoma.

At the Senior Center, Bertha came by in her pickup with her 5 year old grandson Layton to speak to Denise.  She was shepherding sheep that day and was not able to participate in the activities at the Senior Center.  Denise enjoyed seeing all of her friends that she had made last year and was surprised that she remembered all of their names.

In the Women’s Bible study, we studied about Eve and how God had redeemed her life even though she failed at obeying his Word.  She still became the Mother of all of the Living even though she had to leave her perfect home in the Garden of Eden.  She also was still able to be with her husband even though their perfect communication skills were broken.  Marlene shared with her that she goes to church and studies from a Navajo Bible.

The construction crew went to Home Depot.  Nathan was able to connect with his contact to get the lumber needed to build a 13-post porch for David.  The man gave them the lumber at a 25 percent discount, and the store manager took the tax off of the purchase.  Nathan had two gift certificates that he was able to give to a Navajo guy and his wife for insulation that they were buying.  The Navajo man’s face beamed with joy over the blessing of the gift certificates.  They then went to Wal-Mart to get cheese for Tom and t-shirts.  They helped a guy and his wife who were having trouble getting chairs in their trunk to fit everything in their car.

In the afternoon, Tony, Adam, Lee, and Quinn Shoveled gravel to build an exercise path on the reservation.

That afternoon when some of the girls were resting in the cabin, 2 Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mary and Toni, knocked  on the door.  Elizabeth E. talked with them about what we were doing at the reservation.

David shared that right before he left to go on the trip, God spoke to him in that still small voice to bring a jump rope.  We were able to use the jump rope as one of the rotations in the afternoon, and the kids really enjoyed that activity.

Our skit that evening was based on the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.  Quinn was Sadrach, McKenna was Meshach, and Lauren was Abednego.  John D. was the narrator.  He told us that the dungeon was heated up to 8 times the temperature that they usually heated it up to, and that the king threw the 3 men into the fire.  Nothing happened to the men in the fire.  They did not burn.  Andrew who portrayed God in the story appeared to protect them from the fire.  John D. told us that when we are thrown into the fires of life – relationship issues, family issues, job issues, etc. – that the God of John 3:16 who was raised from the dead to give us eternal life is powerful enough to protect us.

In the cabin that evening, Beth shared that we had planned meals for 30 less people than what showed up for dinner.  This was truly a fishes and loaves story where God multiplied the food so that no one was allowed to go hungry that evening (even though Tom out of the goodness of his heart had to give a selfish Carol a larger serving because to her, Tom makes spaghetti like her Mom used to make it).

I Will Never Be the Same…Taking Christianity Into the World

I will never be the same. I will tell all I see.

I cannot go back. His way is my way.

I am forever His. We will always be together.

I will live with Him forever in the Heavens.

I have seen the Light and He is good.

I have felt His presence. I know he looks after me through thick and thin.

I have felt His forgiveness. He has blessed by obedience.

I have seen His strength. He is my DNA.

I have the power of the Holy Spirit. He lifts me up.

I have felt His mercy. I have true inner peace.

I know His love. I am a part of the Body.

I am unduly blessed. Words cannot express by joy.

I am uniquely His. He made me in His image.

I have a destiny. I know where I am going.

I have read His Word. His words lift me up to higher heights.

I have tested His truth. His words are timeless and His truth enduring.

I have touched His garment. I know what it is like to be in His presence.

I will always persevere. No one can stop me.

I am an over comer. I can do all things in His name.

I am saved. By faith alone. WOW.

I cannot be lost. He will never let anyone have me.

No one can snatch me from His hand. I know where I am headed.

I know He is here. He has my “back” all the time, while still guiding my steps.

I know He is watching. He is making a way for me to follow.

I know He is guiding. He has measured the distance and prepared my heart.

I am forever His. He promises me eternity and I have a mansion in Heaven.

I cannot go back. Satan can go back to where he lives.

Unmerited Favor/Grace: God’s Perfect Expression of Love…Taking Christianity Into the World

In my youth and in my lack of understanding of truth and without wisdom, I used to want what was “fair” and what was “coming to me.” However as Jesus continues His work in me I have learned that nothing could be further from the truth. I want grace: God’s unmerited favor.

Salvation is a free gift of the highest order that all we have to do accept. Grace is God giving of himself and offering forgiveness rather than condemnation for those who seek it. For those who think they want what they deserve, I would ask them to evaluate the truth. If you have ever spoken too quickly or harshly, do you desire to be scolded or chastised. If you are driving too fast and are pulled over by the police, would you prefer a warning or a ticket. If you are student and fail to either remember or turn in your homework, do you want a “F” as a grade or would you prefer the chance of a “do over” or as golfers prefer to call a mulligan.

Grace is the highest form of love for it is love in action. It is not words or mere deeds but it is the act of being like Jesus Christ. Imagine if our faith was “works based” and that we had to work our way into Heaven. We would never be able to do enough or be good enough to earn our way into eternity as there would always be more to do and a higher standard yet to aspire to.

It was by Jesus coming to earth that He paid the ultimate price, death on a cross and in so doing was a perfect example of His sacrifice, His love, His commitment to us, that was indeed His unblemished expression of love offering us eternal favor and grace.
