John Dillard and HIS CPA Nominated for Gwinnett Chamber Small Business Award
The following is an email sent to HIS CPA announcing the nomination for the Small Business Person of the Year Award for 2006:
Congratulations! You have been nominated for the 2006 Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year. This 24th Annual Small Business Award is in conjunction with the U.S. Small Business Administration's national program.
Nominees for this prestigious award will be judged and selected on the enclosed criteria. Partners who jointly own and operate a small business may compete as a 'team', so long as the number of individuals in a single nomination does not exceed three.
To be considered for this award, nominees must complete the enclosed application and return to the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce no later than Friday, April 21, 2006, 4:30 p.m. in an envelope marked CONFIDENTIAL.
The Gwinnett Chamber’s intent is to submit to the Small Business Administration our Small Business Person of the Year for state and national recognition. To participate in the state and national programs you may be required to submit three years’ of
P & L and balance sheet showing "substantially improved financial position of the business" to the SBA. Your application at the local competition is your warranty of willingness to compete further if chosen as the Gwinnett Chamber’s Small Business Person of the Year.
A screening committee will select five finalist based solely on the nominee's application. Please do not submit scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, etc. After selection of the five finalists, those individuals will be contacted for a personal interview conducted by a panel of judges.
The five finalists will be formally honored at the 2006 Small Business Awards Luncheon, Thursday, June 15, 2006, which will be held at the Atlanta Marriott-Gwinnett Place. On that day, one of the finalists or the team finalists will be announced as the Gwinnett Chamber’s 2006 Small Business Person of the Year.
I encourage you to fill out these applications. The top five nominees receive so much media exposure that is well worth your while.
If you are selected as one of the five finalists, the site visit interviews will be conducted at some point during the day on May 9th. During this visit, our selection committee will visit your facility for a 30 minute interview and 10 minute tour.
